Edenhouse is located at the top of the South Island perfectly tucked between the Abel Tasman Park and Nelson, an area that enjoys the most sunshine hours of anywhere in New Zealand. The setting of the house itself is in a quiet, picturesque valley with amazing views in every direction.

Built by the owners and hosts, Peter and Bobbie Martin, the property itself is an exquisitely designed, large and relaxed home furnished to a very high and traditional standard with an emphasis on comfort, understated luxury and attention to detail. With a maximum of six guests at any one time, Edenhouse guarantees absolute personalised service and the utmost attention to detail throughout. Two suites within the house and the free standing cottage in the garden each sleep two people and have plenty of space, outstanding views and large private bathrooms.

The stunning landscaped gardens are large, so as well as enjoying the sitting room, formal dining room, artists studio, den and library, you can also enjoy several courtyard areas providing additional places to eat, drink and relax. These gardens are a cool oasis in the summer whilst open fires throughout the house give warmth and atmosphere in the winter months.

Dining at Edenhouse is truly memorable, whether it is one of the fabulous home cooked breakfasts sourced from local suppliers and producers or a delectable dinner in the formal dining room or in one of the many al fresco venues around the beautiful gardens. Plenty of wonderful restaurants and wineries in the area also provide ample choice for dining.

A visit to Edenhouse offers world-renowned trout fishing rivers, wild mountains, pristine countryside, cerulean bays and the golden, postcard beaches of the Abel Tasman National Park. Artisan food producers, a thriving arts and crafts community and internationally reputed wineries are within easy range. For those so inclined, there are also plenty of extreme adventures involving a helicopter such as wilderness heli-rafting, heli-biking and heli-hiking.

This is, Peter and Bobbie like to say, a place where even the busiest guests will soon reacquaint themselves with the simple pleasures and the unbridled possibilities of life, all in a setting of beauty, privacy and luxury.

Top tip:

You'll be dining on the spoils from the garden at Edenhouse, fresh-picked figs, macadamia nuts and blueberries perhaps, combined with vegetables from a neighbouring farm and artisan produce from the best bakery, smokehouse, cheese maker and butcher in the area.
