Birding in Damaraland
From big soaring birds of prey to the tiniest of sunbirds, whatever birds you favour there is something for everyone near Erongo Wilderness Lodge. Keen birders will revel in the variety so packing your binoculars for a trip to Namibia is a must. Magnificent Black Eagles can frequently be spotted and their nests can be seen on cliff faces. A breeding pair that is in residence can often be seen from the lodge where the dining room and bar look out over three water points where the birds come to drink. Many of the birds you will see here are endemic to South Africa and Namibia; such as the Redbilled Francolin, the Hartlaub's Francolin, Rosyfaced Lovebird, Ruppell's parrot, Whitetailed Shrike and the Redheaded Finch to name just a few. It is the abundance of water around the lodge that makes it such a haven for these beautiful birds and such a favourite with keen birders and nature lovers.
