Activities at Sonop
Although not in close proximity to the towering dunes of Sossusvlei, guests staying at Sonop can head on a day trip to visit this iconic area. Leaving early in the morning, your guide will take you to Sesriem gate and into the Namib-Naukluft National Park where Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei await. After climbing the dunes and walking amongst the petrified trees, you will stop for some breakfast in the park before heading back to Sonop.
Aside from day trips up to the dunes, guests have plenty of opportunity to enjoy the endless vistas of the Namib Desert from a variety of activities from camp. Nature drives provide the perfect opportunity to explore and learn about the geology of the Namib and how some of the desert adapted animals are able to survive with almost no water. For the more adventurous, fat tyre bikes are available for speeding across the landscape, as well as the possibility of having bush breakfasts or dinners with nothing but the desert surrounding you. For those who want to get an idea of just how vast the landscape can be, scenic flights (at extra cost) can also be arranged.
Back at camp, guests can indulge in the spa for some real rest and relaxation and even practice yoga with an instructor. Once the sun sets, a cinema screen can be put up for a movie night like no other. With next to no light pollution, the star gazing at Sonop can be out of this world.
