Average time to visit
All year round destination. Due to its position on the equator and its altitude, Quito’s temperature varies greatly between night and day. Daytime temperatures average 23-25ºC, while at night temperatures drop to around 10ºC. In general, days are clear in the morning and cloud over in the afternoon, with rain common in the afternoon. The drier season runs from the end of May to the end September, with another brief summertime in early December (which coincides nicely with the city’s fiestas).

Walking through the doors of Illa Experience transports you to a place of serenity and architectural beauty. A feast for the senses from the beginning, you are greeted with a refreshing towel and welcome drink. Marrying the old with the new, Illa intertwines the historical body of the home while incorporating modern updates. Rooms are decorated in pale whites and neutral tones with personalized touches like name cards and a welcome snack waiting in your room. Enjoy complimentary daily experiences in the main room provided by local artisans such as watercolor painting and ice cream demonstrations.

The reason the word experience is in the name is because this hotel is much more than a bed for the night. Illa Experience really strives to be a part of the surrounding community of San Marco. When you check in, one of the first things you will do is take a stroll down the block where a staff member will give you a quick synopsis of the history in San Marcos, as well as point out local boutiques and restuaurants. With only 10 rooms, it really takes no time for the staff to start feeling like family. Rated by TIME magazine as one of the 100 hotels you have to visit, you cannot go wrong with this unique and arty boutique in one of Quitos most historic neighbourhoods.
