Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
All year round destination. Due to its position on the equator and its altitude, Quito’s temperature varies greatly between night and day. Daytime temperatures average 23-25ºC, while at night temperatures drop to around 10ºC. In general, days are clear in the morning and cloud over in the afternoon, with rain common in the afternoon. The drier season runs from the end of May to the end September, with another brief summertime in early December (which coincides nicely with the city’s fiestas).

Description
In the heart of Quito’s historic Old Town, just a stone’s throw from the city's main attractions, lies the simple but charming Patio Andaluz. This cosy hotel offers an authentic taste of colonial Quito with its classic courtyards and original artwork.
The delightful Patio Andaluz is situated within easy reach of Quito’s ornate colonial churches, plazas, museums and national monuments and is set in a historic mansion originally dating back to the XVI century.
Patio Andaluz is set around a beautiful central courtyard and its wide corridors, expansive stairways, large arches, picturesque balconies, and towering atrium-style patios give Patio Andaluz real character, reminiscent of Quito’s colonial period.
The comfortable suites and guest rooms are decorated in a typical colonial style and feature elegant carved wood furnishings and reproduction artworks. There are areas for relaxing dotted around the hotel, including the library and guests can also enjoy Spanish and local cuisine in the restaurant or some tapas and a glass of wine in the cosy bar.
Accommodation
Patio Andaluz has 21 spacious guest rooms and 11 suites. These are simply yet tastefully furnished in a traditional colonial style and have large beds and polished wooden floors. Some of the rooms are mezzanine style, with separate living and sleeping areas on two different levels, joined by a winding staircase.
Childcare
Children are welcome at Patio Andaluz but there are no formal children's facilities. Babysitting can be arranged on request.
Facilities
Patio Andaluz has a restaurant serving Spanish and local cuisine, a tapas bar, library and artisan shop. There are plenty of spaces for relaxing with hammocks and loungers.
Activities
Guests at Patio Andaluz are ideally located for exploring Quito's colonial quarter, with many churches, museums and historic buildings, all just a short walk away. It is also possible to take a ride on the cable car, for great views of the city and the snow-capped Andes, or an excursion to one of the colourful Indian markets in the highlands, such as Otavalo.
Reviews
Sarah Lee (Staff)
I felt that the Patio Andaluz really did have one of the best locations in the historic quarter of Quito and is well placed for seeing the city’s main attractions and for going out in the evenings to nearby restaurants. The hotel is set in a beautiful colonial building . The rooms all face out to an internal courtyard, which is slightly strange but completely understandable due to the layout of the historic building. There is a big window above the courtyard so the rooms don’t feel dark. I would say the décor in the rooms is quite paired down and could perhaps be jazzed up a notch but in terms of value for money and location in the heart of Quito it's hard to beat.
