Sleep under the stars on a Restored Trading Dhow. Tusitiri is a traditional 20 metre dhow built and based at Lamu and accommodating up to 10 guests overnight.
Step aboard the Tusitiri, one of East Africa’s last great trading dhows, lovingly restored and transformed into a seafaring escape in the Lamu Archipelago. This isn’t just a cruise, it’s a floating home rooted in Swahili heritage, where children can explore teak decks and creaking rigging, and parents can unwind to the rhythm of the waves.
Designed for private groups of up to 10 (or larger for day trips), every moment on Tusitiri is yours: sunrise sails through hidden islands, beach barbecues after snorkelling in coral-rich bays, and nights under vast skies. The crew, many of whom have been part of Tusitiri for decades bring both expertise and warmth, guiding you through the islands’ stories, landmarks, reefs and cultures.
Here, the journey is both gentle and alive: an opportunity to disconnect from the everyday, to be together, and to feel how travel can heal aboard such a vessel that sailed from India and Arabia trading spices.
