Stunning Alpine Trek in Kamikochi

1 hour west of Matsumoto lies the peaceful town of Kamikochi, also known as the gateway to the Japanese Alps. Revel in the beauty of the stunning mountain scenery and embark on a 3-4 hours easy trek. In Autumn, the surroundings turn ablaze in a riot of red and gold and usually the colours peak in mid-October. Otherwise, enjoy the marvellous views of alpine flowers and wildlife during Spring and Summer as well.
Note: Private cars are banned in Kamikochi. Transfer to the entrance and take a shared bus to the park. The park is open from the end of April to mid November.
