Best time to visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit

Sicily enjoys a blissful Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and warm springs and autumns. Even February, the coolest month, has average temperatures of 13°C, which means that any time of year is suitable.

If you want to go sightseeing around the island’s legendary historic and natural sites, October–November and March–June are reliably warm, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 26°C. July and August are blessed with glorious sunshine, and average temperatures of around 28°C.

August is peak tourist season, many businesses close for two or three weeks. This is when most Italians go on holiday, about 70% of the population takes their vacation at the same time, therefore hardly any work gets done in Italy during that period and beaches can be extremely crowded.

Taormina, Sicily, Italy

Burst into an abundance of charm and sophistication from the off at the Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo, a stunning neo-classical hotel situated in beautiful Taormina.  With the Greek Amphitheatre just steps away from the hotel, you are close to the action, but with the tranquil atmosphere of the hotel and gardens, it’s easy to escape.
