Average time to visit

The best time to visit the Amalfi Coast is in spring or late summer, when temperatures are pleasant and humidity levels are low. In July and August the climate is hot and humid, while the area is busy with tourists. The climate in Puglia is generally warm sunny and dry in April/May and again in October with the risk of the odd shower of rain. By June the weather settles in a pattern of long hot sunny days and balmy evenings, especially in July and August when it can be a little humid.

Itinerary

Fly to Naples
Day 1-4

Praiano, Amalfi Coast, Italy

Day 1 – Arrival on the Amalfi Coast

Your adventure begins with a warm welcome on the Amalfi Coast, where Casa Angelina awaits above the dazzling Tyrrhenian Sea. With its perfect blend of chic design and effortless charm, the hotel provides a soft landing after your journey. Spend the afternoon unwinding with a drink as the sun dips behind Positano, painting the cliffs gold. If you feel curious to stretch your legs, wander down to Gavitella Beach with complimentary loungers, already immersed in the rhythms of Italian seaside life.

Day 2 – Discovering Positano & the Amalfi Coast

Wake up to sweeping coastal views before setting out to explore Positano’s winding streets, lined with characterful boutiques and pastel houses clinging to the cliffs. Your driver can take you further along the Amalfi Coast, where lively towns reveal cobbled piazzas, markets and timeless churches. In the afternoon, retreat to the tranquillity of Casa Angelina’s terrace—an ideal spot to savour the unhurried pace of southern Italy. By evening, you’ll feel tuned into the coast’s unique harmony of sea, mountain and village.

Day 3 – Capri by Private Boat

Today, step aboard your private boat for the short journey to Capri, a jewel of the Bay of Naples. Glide past dramatic limestone cliffs as your skipper takes you to hidden coves, grottoes and peaceful swimming spots. Onshore, wander Capri’s piazzetta, browse elegant boutiques or simply people-watch over an espresso. Returning to Positano in the late afternoon, the view of the coastline from the water is unforgettable. End your day with a quiet toast to the Amalfi, filled with stories already.

Accommodation: Casa Angelina ( 3 nights )
Day 4-6

Basilicata

Day 4 – Limoncello & onward to Basilicata

Before leaving the Amalfi Coast, visit a local limoncello farm to uncover one of the region’s most loved flavours. Guided through the groves and production process, you’ll sample citrusy liqueurs that capture the essence of Amalfi. From here, travel east into the quieter landscapes of Basilicata, a region far removed from the bustle of the coast. Settle into Palazzo Margherita, Francis Ford Coppola’s restored palace, and savour a slow evening in its serene gardens, where an aperitivo feels timeless.

Day 5 – Ancient Matera

Today’s private guided tour brings Matera vividly to life. Walking through the ancient cave dwellings of the sassi, carved into steep ravines, is a journey like no other—both humbling and fascinating. Your guide will share stories of survival and recent revitalisation, giving a deeper perspective on this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to Bernalda for a relaxed afternoon by the pool or a book in the shade of orange trees, followed by dinner under the stars at the Palazzo.

Accommodation: Palazzo Margherita ( 2 nights )
Day 6-10

Puglia, Italy

Day 6 – Into Puglia

After breakfast, continue towards Puglia’s south-eastern coast, where olive groves, vineyards and whitewashed villages set the scene. Your next base, Borgo Egnazia, has been crafted to echo a traditional village, but infused with modern elegance and wellness at its heart. This evening, take time to explore the estate—whether the spa, pools, or simply a quiet walk through sun-dappled courtyards. The days ahead promise discovery, and tonight is best spent easing gently into the soulful rhythms of Puglia.

Day 7 – Countryside by Bike & Picnic

Today is about embracing Puglia’s landscape up close. Set out on a guided cycle through olive groves and winding country lanes, guided by someone who knows every corner. Along the way, pause for a private picnic with local specialities, prepared just for you. Back at Borgo Egnazia, relax by the pool or indulge in fresh seafood at dinner. It’s a day that feels both simple and special—immersing you in the food, land and warmth of the region’s traditions.

Day 8 – Valle d’Itria & Trulli Towns

Slip behind the wheel of a classic Alfa Romeo Spider and explore Valle d’Itria at your own pace. The rolling hills reveal towns of striking beauty—like Alberobello, famed for its UNESCO-listed trulli, or Locorotondo, with its blindingly white limestone houses. Each stop invites you to wander, pause for coffee, and capture the essence of southern Italy’s charm. As the day winds down, return to Borgo Egnazia, the car top down, with the scent of olive trees lingering in the air.

Day 9 – Lecce & Salento

Venture south to Lecce, often called the ‘Florence of the South’, where ornate baroque architecture and sun-bathed piazzas create a lively yet graceful atmosphere. Delve into craft workshops and tasteful cafés before heading towards the Salento peninsula. Here golden beaches meet turquoise seas and rustic coastal restaurants showcase the region’s bold cuisine. It’s a beautifully varied day—culture by morning, coast by afternoon, and a journey that strengthens your sense of Puglia’s extraordinary diversity.

Day 10 – Salento by Private Boat

On your final full day, return to the sea. A private skipper will lead you along Salento’s rugged coastline, where caves, coves and crystalline waters invite moments of exploration and swim stops away from the crowds. The sense of freedom is unmatched, with only the sound of water against the hull and the coastal cliffs rising around you. Toast to your Italian journey with a glass in hand, knowing you’ve uncovered both the headline icons and Italy’s quieter, soulful corners.

Day 11 – Departure

Enjoy a final breakfast surrounded by the soft light of the Adriatic coast, reflecting on days filled with colour, flavour and discovery. Your time in Italy has taken you from Amalfi’s cliffs to Basilicata’s caves and Puglia’s villages, weaving together its most treasured highlights with moments of genuine connection. With seamless arrangements throughout, you’ll leave with a sense of Italy’s vibrancy, history and heart—and the reassurance that every detail was cared for with Scott Dunn expertise.
