Lombok
Lombok is a smaller and less developed island than its neighbour Bali and lies just a 20-minute flight to the east. With a vibrant Sasak culture and magnificent beaches. It is an island of uncrowded beaches and tranquil countryside, dominated by the spectacular volcano of Mt Rinjani.

For a less predictable stay many choose Lombok, not just a haven for beach lovers but also growing in popularity with the more intrepid traveller. A more modest cousin in the archipelago with sleepier villages and archetypal beaches that contrast with lush forests, cerulean bays and smouldering volcanoes. From here be sure to venture northwest to the laidback and motor-vehicle free Gili Islands, a trio that are also celebrated for their diving and snorkelling.
