Built in 1887, this glorious villa takes its name from the ‘White Cliffs,’ that line the coastline from Cassis to Marseilles. Transformed into a hotel in the 1920s, the property has recently been restored to embrace its Art Deco heritage. Set in a stunning location between the Calanques and overlooking the Mediterranean and Cap Canaille, the landscaped gardens, two pools, and access down to a private beach, make this the perfect seaside sanctuary.
Achingly elegant, the interiors retain many original features, Art Deco accents and revamped retro style. Expect dark granite floors, walnut and rosewood furniture, all now updated with modern comforts, including rain showers and Nespresso machines. The vibe is cool, calm, and collected and the sea views are exceptional.
Les Roches Blanches offers a choice of rooms and suites, featuring soft muted colours, alongside flourishes of gold and black geometric Art Deco styling. All include King bed, Wi-Fi, HD TV, climate control, Nespresso coffee machine, safety deposit box, minibar and ensuite bathroom with shower or bathtub, Acqua di Parma bath products, hairdryer, robes, and slippers. For a room with a Mediterranean view, opt for either an Executive or Deluxe Sea View Room.
All the suite accommodation enjoys fabulous sea views and all, but the Junior Suites include large private terraces. Two suites are named after Winston Churchill and Edith Piaf, who both stayed here over the years. For a treat, check into one of the new Calanques Suites with impressive roof terraces and double walk-in showers, or for your very own in-room hammam, the Signature Suite will not disappoint.
The hotel’s dining options all feature al fresco terraces to take in those magnificent views. For fine dining book a table at Belles Canailles to enjoy superb cuisine overlooking Cap Canaille. A more relaxed dining experience is offered at Rocco, serving Mediterranean classics, while the Loup Bar is now a ‘raw bar,’ specialising in seafood, sushi, carpaccio, tartare meat, and salads among others. The recently added Pétanque area is a lovely spot for a cocktail or aperitif, against the glorious coastline view.
Along with the two swimming pools, Les Roches Blanches has a staircase cut into the cliffs to take guests down to the sea. There is also a Sisley Spa offering a comprehensive range of relaxing treatments, a hammam and fitness room. During your stay, there are four e-Bikes available for exploring the area and the hotel can arrange for a private boat trip or helicopter ride to discover the Calanques. Personal trainers, climbing expeditions, sea fishing, diving and vineyard trips can also be arranged.
