Average time to visit

Helsinki is a year round destination but is at its best in spring and summer. From May to September temperatures are warm, early twenties but in the height of summer can reach up to 30 degrees and the sun doesn't set until around 10:30pm, rising at around 3:00am so you can really pack a lot in! During the winter temperatures do get cold but it is a great place to go for a pre-Christmas getaway.

Klaus K is a stylish, designer hotel located in the centre of Helsinki. This stunning, modern hotel derives its main design inspiration from Finland’s folklore and national epic, the Kalevala and also features an award-winning restaurant.

Founded by couple Marc and Mia Skvorc in 2005, Klaus K is a modern and smart design hotel in the centre of Helsinki.

Originally the Klaus Kurki hotel, a landmark of the city for many years, the rechristened Klaus K is now a fashionable design hotel. Lead architects Antti-Matti Siikala and Sarlotta Narjos have created a stunning looking building, where each room unfolds itself like the eagerly-turned pages of the national epic which provides the theme for the building's new incarnation.

The public areas of the hotel are beautifully designed and very stylish, and yet welcoming and cosy, and the rooms, spread over the two buildings, are stylish and contemporary.

The central location makes this a great base to explore the city's many shops and restaurants with many attractions within walking distance.

Klaus K is inspired by Finland's national epic, the Kalevala. Each of the 137 playful guestrooms is named after one of the themes that illustrates the Kalevala's primary emotional elements: desire, passion, mysticism and envy.

Sky Loft

The Sky Lofts include an elevated bedroom area, a relaxing seating area with sofas and a desk. The rooms offer more space and some have a ceiling window. The modern color schemes, designer lamps and a luxurious bathroom with a rain shower make this a superb choice. The size of the Sky Lofts varies from 31 to 37 square metres.

The gym provides a broad range of modern equipment for fitness enthusiasts and is open 24 hours a day.

The ground floor Italian restaurant, Toscanini, is open to residents and the public and is a popular informal spot inspired by Tuscany and serves delicious Italian dishes. Klaus K Bar and lounge is a stylish hot spot serving Italian wines and snacks. If you are visiting on a Thursday be sure to pop by between 4 and 7pm to enjoy an Aperitivo along with a live DJ.

James Ferguson (Staff)

I loved the public areas at Klaus K: so stylish and funky while at the same time comfortable and welcoming. Some of the rooms are on the small side, but they are all nicely designed and well equipped.
