Best time to Visit

Average time to visit

Whistler enjoys a long winter season that usually begins in November and runs through to April. The ideal time to visit Hawaii is later in the winter season - March or April, so this itinerary is ideal around Easter. That said, 20C degrees is the norm in Hawaii even in January and February and if you are serious about surfing, the winter months see the big swells really turn on.

Combining Whistler, one of the world's best skiing and snowboarding destinations with Hawaii, the mecca for surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing, this is an unbeatable high-energy itinerary, an ideal holiday for an active couple or family.

  1. Fly to Vancouver

  2. Days 1-7: Whistler and Ski British Columbia

Your holiday starts in Whistler, home to the largest ski area in North America. With two spectacular linked mountains, Whistler and Blackcomb there is a dazzling range of terrain that will keep experts happy for weeks on end, whilst intermediates will love the whole mountain too.

For a break from skiing, take the opportunity to go snowmobiling, ziplining, dogsledding or even try a moonlit snowshoe cookout one evening! Shops, bars and restaurants are plentiful - if you can tear yourself away from the superb slopes, deep powder and mile-long groomers!

Accommodation: Four Seasons Resort Whistler (6 nights)

  3. Fly from Vancouver to Kona

  4. Days 7-13: Big Island

After you have had your fill of British Columbia's finest skiing, you will head back to Vancouver for the direct flight to Kona International Airport where you spend the second part of your trip in Hawaii.

It is no exaggeration to say that Hawaii is an island paradise and you cannot fail to be impressed by the natural beauty. Sublime beaches, spectacular mountains and waterfalls are swathed in dazzling vegetation of every colour. Hawaii’s Big Island is the home of the original Iron Man championships and adrenaline sports seem to run through its blood. There are ATV adventures, a number of zipline companies, helicopter flights over Kailua volcano to see the molten lava, lava hikes and horseback riding. Water based activities are a big focus with stand up paddleboards, underwater scooter snorkel tours, snorkelling, deep sea fishing charters and kayaking tours, but if these sound a little energetic, whale watching (the season fits perfectly with Whistler's ski season) and sailing might appeal.

Accommodation: Four Seasons Resort Hualalai (6 nights)

  5. Fly home
