Situated on an island in the furthest reaches of the Okavango Delta, Duba Plains is one of the most remote luxury tented camps in the region. With only six bespoke tents, the camp prides itself on intimacy as well as remarkable game viewing.
Duba Plains Camp is an unobtrusive camp surrounded by expanses of seasonally flooded plains and shaded by tall ebony, sycamore fig and mangosteen trees. Located on a tree-covered island in a 30,000-hectare concession known as the Kwedi Reserve, Duba Plains Camp is a beautiful intimate camp renowned for rewarding game-viewing with good populations of plains game, buffalo, resident prides of lion, leopard, elephant and wild dog.
Accommodation at Duba Plains Camp consists of five spacious tents with en-suite bathrooms with indoor and out door showers and a luxurious bathtub. Each tent is decorated with furnishings inspired by classic 1920s safari style with leather arm chairs and Persian rugs over the dark wooden floors. All have their own large private deck with plunge pool, the perfect place to relax in between activities. In addition to the five tents there is an exclusive two bedroom Duba Suite well suited for families or small groups. The camp is surrounded by extensive seasonally flooded plains and shaded by tall ebony, fig and garcinia trees. The bar and dining area are also raised, to enhance the viewing of the abundant wildlife surrounding the camp.
Duba Plains Camp offers a variety of activities including day and night game drives, often tracking the buffalo herd around the concession. Boat cruises are dependent on the seasonal water levels in the Duba area. Birdlife is abundant and impressive in the Okavango Delta, with Rosy-throated Longclaw, Slaty Egret and Wattled Crane often sighted.
Accommodation at Duba Plains Camp comprises six spacious tents including the opulent two bedroom Dhow Suite, all with en-suite bathrooms. They all have large decks with plunge pools which offer uninterrupted panoramic vistas of the Okavango Delta floodplains.

Game drives from Duba Plains promise not to disappoint, with herds of elephant feeding on the islands and hippo wading out into the deeper channels. Tsessebe and blue wildebeest dot the plains, while red lechwe are found on the fringe of the wetter floodplains. Guest can enjoy safaris in 4 x 4 vehicles including night drives to spot the nocturnal species and from the water from boats if water levels permit.

Intimate and beautifully designed these spacious tented suites boast amazing views of surrounding lush vegetation and the animals that parade through. Soaking in the most beautiful copper bathtub while watching game pass you makes you feel as if you belong to a bygone age.

The newly renovated Duba Plains is lovely and echos the same feel as Zarafa with lots of aged wood, copper and incredible views. The food here is spectacular, the chef who recently moved from Zarafa treated us to a 6 course meal which would have been challenging to cook in a fully equipped kitchen let alone in the bush! The game viewing here is special, you have the Duba Lions which are very active during the day and especially in the morning and the setting is very different to other camps with large plains and more of an undulating landscape.

The newly redesigned Duba Plains Camp is a fresh take on a classic luxury bush camp. Combining old safari style charm with modern architecture and design, Duba makes for a perfect retreat in the heart of the Okavango Delta. You can enjoy game drives where you'll have an opportunity to spot the famous Duba lions or may be lucky enough to see one of twelve rhinos they have relocated from South Africa for better protection in this concession. You'll also enjoy morning or afternoon boat trips for a some stunning photographs of game at the waters edge.

I had one of my all time favourite game drives at Duba Plains - as the sun rose over a herd of buffalo on the plains near camp, we watched the resident pride of lion try to pick of the weakest buffalo in the herd. Each time a lion pounced the buffalo charged in retaliation. This epic battle continued all morning with the sun catching the dust that had been kicked up in the commotion. The camp was great but the game viewing was out of this world!
