Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
Tasmania has a temperate climate with 4 distinct seasons. Warm summer days from December to February and sometimes snow in the cooler months of June to September. The best time to visit Tasmania is between October and April, when the weather is at its best. By May, nights are getting cold and days are getting shorter. Winters (June-Aug), especially in the high country, can be quite harsh- though that's the best time to curl up in front of a blazing fire.

Description
A small and personal luxury hotel set in beautiful gardens, Islington Hotel is located at the most exclusive address in Hobart, with stunning views of Mount Wellington from the manicured gardens. One of Tasmania's most historic residences.
Hobart’s finest luxury boutique hotel is intimate and welcoming, lavishly but tastefully decorated with fine artworks and antiques. Private intimate dinners can be arranged in the original drawing room of this 1847 Regency house and you can choose from the extensive wine cellar. Large windows overlook the circular drive with crab apple and rose garden views and Mount Wellington in the distance. On chilly Tasmanian evenings the fire can be lit or in the summer months enjoy a crisp white wine on the terrace.
The eleven sumptuously furnished guest rooms reflect an eclectic mix of a bygone era coupled with a contemporary twist. Chose from the regency rooms in the original building or the newer garden rooms with French doors leading out to the gardens - both are filled with comfortable beds, resplendent fabrics, original antiques and some fabulous art.
Amy and Nicholas welcome you and are excellent hosts, making your stay here a very personal and luxurious one, with amazing food prepared before your eyes in the hotel's welcoming open kitchen and an attention to detail that is second to none.
Accommodation
11 stunningly appointed bedrooms, five in the original 1847 Regency House and six Garden Rooms in the newer wing. The cosy attic room is small but perfect hideaway complete with sumptuous marble bathroom. The Garden Rooms have French doors opening straight onto the gardens and pond beyond. The three Regency Rooms are in the original part of the building, and although all have different features, they reflect the Tasmanian heritage of the Islington. The Signature Room is the epitome of grand living. All rooms include: air conditioning, bathroom with bathtub and separate shower, Wi-Fi, iPad, movie streaming services, tea and coffee facilities and phone.

Childcare
The Islington does not accept children under the age of 16 years, largely because it is a small boutique property with only 11 rooms and does not have the space or facilities for families.
Facilities
The Islington's double storey glass conservatory is perfect for gourmet breakfasts and dinners. Sumptuous picnics are also freshly prepared on request. There is also the atmospheric Honour Bar, a library, drawing room, morning room with crackling fire and pampering massage and beauty services can be arranged in your room.
Activities
Hobart is a wonderful city to explore independently and there is a wealth of wonderful restaurants, farmer's markets, delicatessens, shops and galleries to discover. Day trips to national parks, historical sites, wineries and whisky distilleries are all easy to arrange.
Reviews
Amy Welfare (Staff)
My favourite property in Tasmania by far! The owners Nicholas and Amy have done an amazing job renovating this absolutely stunning 1847 (ancient by Australia’s standards!) Regency house 5 minutes up the hill from Hobart’s centre. The design is elegant, yet homely with plenty of little touches that really show thought has gone into the renovation. There is a huge glass conservatory extension sensitively added to the back of the house giving amazing views out to the huge willow tree, mulberry bushes and beyond to Mt Wellington. From the cosy rooms and luxurious bathrooms, head up to the relaxing sitting room or dining area. The in house chef chats to you whilst preparing delicious food and you can help yourself from the honesty bar. This is the perfect starting or ending point to a trip around Tasmania as you totally feel at home in this beautiful house.
