Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

The Mendoza region can be visited year round although October to April is considered the best time to visit. Summer time from December to February brings the hottest temperatures and there is more chance of rain. The spring and fall of Mendoza are very pleasant months to visit with the changing colours of the vines and have more comfortable temperatures. Winter in Mendoza, notably June and July, sees the driest months and temperatures drop to the 50s-60s. The wine harvest or vendimia takes place typically early March and is a great time to visit, although bookings should be secured well in advance.

Insider's View

Francis Mallmans latest book, 7 Fires (or Siete Fuegos) is a great resource for grilling, and also contains instructions on how to barbecue on an open fire!

Book a table on the very edge of the deck because when they lower the shades slightly you lose the view further back of the Andes

Make sure you eat at their famous Siete Fuegos restaurant – the Seven Fires. It was the culinary highlight of my trip to Argentina.

Wake up early one day and take the sunrise horseriding tour into the foothills of the mountains, for a unique experience and some amazing views

If you're feeling active head to the gym, which has incredible vineyard views, or enjoy an al-fresco yoga class

Download the Sonos sound system app on arrival so that you can play your own surround sound music in your villa. Make sure to ask about the nearby Tegui pop up restaurant on site for an incredible dinner. Make sure to get up early one morning to see the sunrise turn the mountains pink and purple.

Surrounded by 1,500 acres of private vineyards, The Vines Resort & Spa features sleek, modern architecture and 21 expansive private villas – all with private living rooms, kitchenettes and outdoor decks. Many villas showcase breathtaking views of the Andes Mountains and vineyards below.

Interiors are modern and minimal, however locally sourced stone and wood details, along with rich fabrics, ensure a cosy and comfortable feel. Villas also feature complimentary WiFi, Sonos sound systems, a complimentary mini bar and flat screen smart televisions with Apple TV. Spacious bathrooms feature signature spa products created by Fuegia 1833 in addition to dual vanity sinks and rain shower heads. Internationally acclaimed Argentine chef Francis Mallmann showcases the best of Argentine cuisine at the hotel's signature restaurant, Siete Fuegos. Translated to “seven fires,” the restaurant showcases Mallmann’s open flame cooking techniques, inspired by Argentine gauchos and refined throughout 12,000 years of history, with a touch of French influence from Francis' years in Paris and the Hamptons. Here you can enjoy sampling delicious local, seasonal ingredients paired with the restaurant's selection of Argentina's best wines - 250 - carefully curated by The Vines’ Wine Director and sommelier team. The Vines Resort & Spa also has five separate wineries offering tastings on the property, including four privately owned brands and the resort's own.

The Vines Resort & Spa is the ultimate in chic, modern comfort. The spacious villas feel like high end apartments complete with private kitchenettes, living rooms and private terraces. Premium bedding, cozy blankets and rich fabrics ensure your comfort along with excellent service. Upgrading to a one bedroom deluxe villa is worth it without a doubt, due to the added indoor fireplace, double shower, huge terrace with multiple seating areas and private fire pit. The on site restaurant Siete Fuegos is fantastic, however it is important to note that wine can only be ordered by the bottle and meals can be pricey.

As you are taken through the entry gates you wind through the vines and gravel road to get to the reception area of the hotel. Upon arrival, you are greeted with a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice as you are shown to your villa. All of the dcor is modern with a cozy feel as if you are staying in a luxury cabin/lodge. The villas all have a kitchenette area stocked with waters, milk for coffee and a complimentary bottle of malbec. The terrace has lounge chairs with a view of the property.  There is a comfy couch with Apple TV making it very tempting to stay inside and cozy up with a glass of wine. The service was fantastic and the meal at Siete Fuegos was probably the best I've ever had. The offer tours/tastings of the winery and horseback riding, biking that you can do from the property. On a hot day, you can  cool off at the lovely pool they have with lounge chairs and cabanas. Not a place great for kids but ideal for couples.
