If you're looking for adventure, excitement and incredible game viewing then the Ruwesi Canoe Trail is hard to beat. No prior canoeing experience is necessary and all safaris are run by a professional guide, who are trained to the highest standards. Whilst activities are focused on canoeing down the Zambezi it is also possible to go on bush walks which allow you the chance to track wildlife and learn more about the smaller aspects of the bush, as well as seeing some wonderful big game sightings if you're lucky. Game drives are also on offer which will allow you to cover larger distances and often on evening drives enjoy some impressive predator sightings.
The Ruwesi Canoe Trail camps are relatively basic and the focus is very much on the experience of canoeing and wildlife viewing, but the tents are perfectly comfortable. All of the tents are walk-in and measure 3 metres x 3 metres and all the beds have proper frames, mattresses and linen bedding. The tents are all en-suite with a bucket shower and flush loo. Camp assembly and disassembly is done by a team of camp staff and all that is required of you is to pack your personal belongings each day. Dinner is served under the stars each night usually to a soundtrack of snorting hippos, as you share stories of your day's adventure out on the Zambezi.
