Yosemite National Park
Yosemite National Park, with its towering granite monoliths, sky-scraping ancient redwoods and spectacular cascading waterfalls, is an exhibition of natural wonder. Spending a few days in the midst of its majestic beauty, discovering the miles of walking trails and spectacular vistas on offer, is the best way to soak up the magic of one of North America’s oldest national parks.

The best starting point is Yosemite Valley, an expanse covered in a blanket of pine forests, offering exceptional views of the iconic Half Dome and El Capitan peaks. Cradled by the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the skyline is dominated by dramatic mountain scenery. The enormity of the park is staggering and best seen from one of the many lookout points. A climb to the top of Half Dome or Glacier Point will be rewarded by jaw-dropping panoramas of the park, including the jewel in its crown, the magnificent Yosemite Falls.
Hiking options are abundant, from gentle strolls through alpine meadows to demanding summit climbs. On foot, by bicycle or on horseback, the park is a playground for nature lovers and the network of trails takes you unequivocally off the beaten track into the heart of the park. Unique Yosemite experiences are plentiful, and with accommodation options located within the national park, adrenaline fuelled adventure can be found right on your doorstep.
Yosemite’s unique ecosystem supports the habitats of a diverse array of wildlife. Spot black bears, mountain lions, and mule deer roaming the sequoia groves, or look to the skies for the elusive peregrine falcon soaring effortlessly through the air.
The national park’s awe-inspiring vistas morph continuously throughout the year and some would argue there is no best time to go. In late winter, water plummets over the Horsetail Falls appearing like lava in a rare natural phenomenon. Spring breathes new life into Yosemite, melting the snow of the sierras which feeds the park’s many waterfalls and plants. Whilst in autumn, the summer’s crowds dissipate rendering the park an adventure playground for the lucky few.
