Autumn is a fantastic time of year to visit for the Fall colours - these start towards the end of September in the north of the state, and then progress further south throughout October. Not only is the activity menu extensive, Topnotch has created a collection of 'Perfect Days' which can be arranged a la carte to make the most of your stay. Themes range from meditation to art, from adventure to food and ideas include places to visit if travelling with pets or how to explore like a local.
Having undergone a recent renovation, each of the 68 guestrooms has been tastefully completed with modern mountain lodge style plaid decor and comfortable furnishings. Painted artwork and woven textiles inspired by the local culture and surrounding nature feature throughout and all rooms and suites come with iHome docking clock radios, HD TVs, refreshment centers, Keurig coffee makers, individually controlled AC and cosy bedding. There are also 22 individual resort homes which are dotted throughout the 120-acre wooded grounds and provide an enjoyable home from home experience with kitchens, patios and separate living areas. A shuttle service connects all residences to the main hotel on demand.
There are 68 rooms and suites at Topnotch Resort and 22 separate resort homes spread throughout the property. Rooms and suites are modern and comfortable, having recently been renovated, and a number of interconnecting options are available, as well as sofa beds providing additional accommodation. Modern amenities are provided throughout, including iHome docking stations, HD TVs, Keurig coffee makers, drinks chillers and complimentary WiFi.
Children and teens are well looked after at Topnotch, with childcare services, children's menus, poolside dining, picnic lunches, high-chairs and booster seats, rollaway beds, outlet covers and family-friendly rooms. There are also plenty of activities and facilities to keep them entertained, including the impressive tennis academy, seasonal organised activities for kids and teens, spa newbies menu, indoor and outdoor family-friendly swimming pools and a games room for teens. The outdoor restaurant is also dotted with firepits and guests can tuck into mouthwatering nightly s'mores for a fun hands on treat.
There are two dining options at Topnotch, Flannel and The Roost. Flannel is a friendly bistro-style restaurant which boasts fantastic mountain views and serves up a menu featuring fresh local ingredients and dishes inspired by Vermont. The Roost is a modern lobby bar and restaurant with a casual atmosphere where guests can enjoy delicious dinners and craft cocktails. There is also a shuffeboard table and, when the weather is pleasant, dinner can be enjoyed on the patio amongst the firepits.
The award winning spa boasts 30 treatment rooms, private men's and women's spa lounges with fireplaces and juice bars, sauna and steam room, indoor hot tub, 60ft solarium indoor pool, outdoor adult pool and family pool and a full-service salon.
There is no shortage of activities on offer both at the resort and in the surrounding local area and the mountains provide some serious opportunities for adventure. How to get there
It is a 7.5-hour direct international flight to Boston's Logan International Airport with British Airways or Virgin Atlantic, or a 7-hour direct flight to Montreal's Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. From Boston it is just over a 3-hour drive to Topnotch, and from Montreal it is around 2-hours 30-minutes.
