Day 1 | Arrival in Lima Arriving into Lima, you’re met and privately transferred to the leafy enclave of Barranco, the capital’s bohemian heart. Your boutique base offers an intimate introduction to the city, set among art galleries and quiet streets that feel far removed from the capital’s bustle. The afternoon is yours to settle in—perhaps a gentle stroll to the clifftops for Pacific views or a relaxed dinner nearby. It’s an easy, unhurried start, allowing you to acclimatise while beginning to sense Lima’s creative pulse and coastal charm.
Day 2 | Lima Through a Local Lens Today reveals Lima’s personality in layers. Begin in Barranco with a privately guided culinary walk, uncovering hidden ‘huariques’—small, family-run eateries known only to locals—curated by an expert insider. It’s a rare chance to taste authentic flavors away from the usual trail. Later, step into the city’s colonial past, exploring the grandeur of Lima Cathedral and Santo Domingo Convent, before concluding at the Larco Museum. Here, a privately guided visit offers deeper insight into Peru’s ancient civilisations.

Day 3 | Into the Sacred Valley A seamless transfer carries you from Lima to Cusco and onwards into the Sacred Valley. As the altitude gently rises, the landscape opens into wide valleys dotted with traditional villages and Incan terraces. Your retreat is set within lush gardens, offering both comfort and a strong sense of place. The remainder of the day is left free to unwind—perhaps with a spa treatment or a quiet walk—allowing time to acclimatise while absorbing the stillness and scale of the Andes.
Day 4 | Living Andean Traditions Today is immersive and richly textured. Visit the highland village of Chinchero, where weaving traditions are preserved and shared with quiet pride. Continue to the striking salt pans of Maras Salt Mines, cascading down the hillside, and the concentric terraces of Moray, once an Incan agricultural laboratory. Lunch is served at a historic hacienda, offering a more personal connection to the region. The day balances cultural insight with remarkable scenery, deepening your understanding of Andean life.

Day 6 | A Quiet Return to the Citadel An early, unguided return to Machu Picchu offers a different perspective—quieter, more contemplative, and entirely your own. Wander at your own pace as the morning light shifts across the ruins. Later, rejoin the train for a scenic return to Cusco, where you’re met and transferred to your hotel. Back in the city, the atmosphere feels vibrant yet manageable after the stillness of the mountains, providing a gentle re-entry into urban life.
Day 7 | Layers of Cusco Cusco unfolds as a city of contrasts. With your guide, explore the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuamán and take in panoramic views from Cristo Blanco. In the bustling San Pedro Market, everyday life plays out in vivid color, before stepping into the refined interiors of Qorikancha and the Cusco Cathedral. It’s a day that blends Incan foundations with colonial legacy, revealing the city’s layered identity.

Your final stop on this whirlwind adventure is the incredible Uyuni Salt Flats. Stay at Airstream Uyuni, a unique camper experience under the stars.
Take a hike to an "island in the salt" that is covered in cacti and offers breathtaking views across the Salar. Head to visit the village of Coquesa and visit its ancient mummies that lie sheltered in a cave 600m above, another place to take in beautiful views of the vast white expanse. Those wishing to do a little more than just stretch their legs can embark on a 2 hour hike to the impressive Tunipa volcano's lower crater and people with an interest in the local community and life at the salt flats may choose to visit the quinoa fields or walk with the llama farmers and their herds. While the wet season is popular among photographers in particular, those wishing to try their hand at paddle boarding across the Salar may do so if the water level allows!

The best time to visit Peru and Bolivia is between May and September. The Sacred Valley's location and altitude result in two seasons, rainy and dry. The rainy season typically lasts from November to March, with the heaviest rains arriving in January and February.
In Bolivia, the very best time to go is also from May to September, which is the drier season in the Andes. However the rainy season brings with it great opportunities for keen photographers.
