Day 1: Arrival
Bangkok hits you immediately – noise, heat, the scent of charcoal and spices filling the air. Fast-track services get you through the airport quickly, and your guide meets you on the other side to drive you into the city. Check in and rest. The team understand that arrival days aren't about schedules – they're about settling in properly after a long flight.
Day 2: The City Revealed
An orientation with a local guide helps you navigate Bangkok's rhythm. You'll start at the Grand Palace, where the roofs have a geometric precision that takes time to notice – the way each angle catches light, the layering of detail that doesn't announce itself immediately. Inside, the Emerald Buddha sits in its chamber, drawn pilgrims for centuries, and standing in front of it you understand why people have made the journey.
Wat Pho comes next. The reclining Buddha stretches 45 metres along the floor, and you walk its length slowly, taking in the scale of it – the feet decorated with mother-of-pearl inlay, the hands positioned with deliberate care. There's something in the proportions that shifts how you think about space and devotion.
The klongs wind through quieter neighbourhoods away from the main roads, where Bangkok's domestic life actually happens. Floating markets operate early, before the tour boats arrive, and you'll see produce vendors setting out their stock, noodle sellers preparing for the morning rush, families moving between wooden houses on stilts that rise and fall with the water level. Go before 8 AM and you'll mostly have them to yourself.
Day 3: Bangrak Food Tour
A foodie tour moves you through Bangrak's narrow streets and into its history. This neighbourhood has been Bangkok's food centre for decades, and your guide stops at places locals eat – not restaurants, but stalls run by people who've been doing this for twenty years. You'll taste dishes you won't find on tourist menus, and the history of each one matters: why certain spices, which regions they come from, how flavours tell you about trade routes and migration. By the end, you understand Thai food goes far deeper than pad thai.Where to stay

Day 4: Flight North
The flight north takes you into a completely different landscape, where mountains rise around Chiang Mai and the air feels different as you descend – cooler, quieter, greener than Bangkok. You're checking in within fifteen minutes of leaving the airport. The afternoon is unscheduled, and you can rest at your hotel, wander the Old City's lantern-lit streets, or ask your guide what's worth seeing. This kind of breathing room matters, because it's where travel stops feeling like a schedule and becomes something more natural.
Day 5: Temples & Ancient Walls
Your guide takes you through Chiang Mai's temples, showing you which ones matter and why, and the midday heat means you're back at your hotel by lunch. Afternoon brings a different kind of walk through the city, where ancient crumbling walls mark where the old boundary stood centuries ago. As the light changes, temple tops begin to catch gold, and then you climb winding stairs through forest – intricate stone carvings appear unexpectedly as you move deeper into the trees – toward Wat Phalad, a jungle temple that feels genuinely hidden. You'll reach the top as the sun drops lower, and the monks who live here offer a blessing. As they begin their evening chanting, the sound carries through the valley and you understand why people built this particular place here, centuries ago.
Day 6: Coffee Hilltribe – Full Day
A 1.5-hour drive west takes you to a Karen hilltribe village where coffee grows under dense forest canopy. Your English-speaking guide leads an adventure into the mountains, then a trek through coffee forests where you'll learn how these farmers work the land – what shade-grown coffee actually means, why timing matters, how they've been doing this for generations. You'll plant your own coffee tree, your hands in soil that's been worked for decades. Return to the coffee camp for a farm-to-table lunch they've prepared from what grows around you, and afternoon workshops teach you coffee roasting and V60 pour-over brewing – skills you'll use at home. You take your roasted beans with you and the understanding that this particular day was different from most.Where to stay

Day 7-12: Tranquility at Yao Noi
From Chiang Mai fly to Phuket, and then a short drive takes you to the Ao Po Marina, before a 45-minute speedboat ride across the glittering sea of Phang Nga Bay, where you’ll find the unashamedly paradisiacal Six Senses Yao Noi. Often referred to as one of Thailand’s most beautiful areas, it's characterised by limestone cliffs and jagged rock formations protruding from the shimmering waters, along with mangrove forests and small islands. The most famous amongst these islands is Koh Tapu, known as James Bond Island after its appearance in the film Man with the Golden Gun.
Located on a tiny island between the iconic limestone formations, the Six Senses Yao Noi is a private boutique resort and firm Scott Dunn favourite. We challenge you not to fall in love with the laidback and tranquil atmosphere, largely geared towards couples. The delightful villas are perched on the cliff edge in order to show off the amazing vistas and each comes with its own pool and butler, guaranteeing you maximum privacy and first-class service.
When you begin to tire of the views from your sun lounger and fancy giving your friendly barman a break, there are plenty of fun ways to pass the time. Go kayaking or take a boat tour around uninhabited islands and its pristine waters, or dive below the surface to discover a technicoloured marine paradise. There are easy walks around the colourful mangroves where you might spot playful monkeys or one of the resident giant monitor lizards, who look intimidating but are completely harmless. Take a bike out to explore some of the island’s secret spots, passing local villages and grazing water buffalo, in search of a remote picnic spot. Learn to cook your favourite Thai dishes with the help of a private chef or give them full control whilst you enjoy the wine pairing experience.
At the end of the day it’s your holiday, so if all you want to do is relax, work on your tan and be pampered at the indulgent spa, we won’t judge you!Where to stay
