Description
Located on the hillside overlooking Lamai Bay, Banyan Tree Samui has some fabulous views on the beautiful island of Koh Samui. The sophisticated villas, all with their own pool, provide an ideal place to enjoy a relaxing holiday.
Banyan Tree Samui has been built with a contemporary Thai outlook in mind. The villas resemble traditional Thai architecture with pillars and staggered roofs and from their elevated position, most have fantastic views of the surrounding area.
It has a very serene and peaceful setting as the resort occupies both sides of the cove so there are no other resorts in sight. The service here is impeccable, every member of staff from the gardeners to housekeeping and reception give 100% at all times so your stay feels completely effortless. The three restaurants, the bar and lobby lounge have a great atmosphere and Saffron in particular is renowned for its wonderful Thai menu.
All the villas are standalone so have quite a private feel to them. They feel incredibly luxurious with extravagant bedding and thoughtful amenities. The private pools are some of the largest ones in Koh Samui and their infinity edges means you can make the most of the views.
The beach at the bottom of the resort is furnished with sun loungers, umbrellas & attendants so you can stay there all day should you wish or you can make your way to the pool which is also serviced.

Facilities
There are three main restaurants at the resort. Saffron is their signature restaurant where you can enjoy some delicious Thai flavours with a view of the resort. The Edge has a varied menu which reaches across the globe and it is also here where you will tuck into your breakfast with arguably the best views from the resort. Sands is located on the beach and appropriately focuses on fresh seafood.
There is an award-winning spa which is not a surprise as it has amazing facilities which include The Rainforest which is a unique hydrothermal experience. There is also a gym and yoga room for fitness fanatics.
Activities
The resort offers a nice range of activities, including kayaking, windsurfing, volleyball and table tennis.
Koh Samui is an island to be explored. The best way is by boat or on foot. Head out to sea on the resort's private speedboat, Sense of the Sea, to explore coves and take in the sparkling sea or head inland for a jungle trek. Ang Thong National Marine Park is home to many untouched islands with some great snorkelling opportunities. It is also worth taking a trip to see the Big Buddha Temple to the north of the island. Or you can just make the most of what makes Koh Samui a great destination - the idyllic sandy beaches!
Reviews

Banyan tree breakfasts are exceptional, the views over the resort are stunning. I particularly liked the sunbathing decks all the villas had, with their glass screenings. I would highly recommend visiting the Hydrotherapy spa.

Located overlooking a beautiful little cove, The Banyan Tree Phuket is your own little private paradise. With fantastic spacious villas which hug the hill side around the cove you are treated to beautiful views from every angle. With a beach side restaurant with toes in the sand feel and more modern restaurant close to all the facilities you are really spoiled for choice.

Banyan Tree Samui has a rather slick feel from the moment you walk into the lobby. Everything has its place and the atmosphere is one of tranquillity! Villas are spacious and they have big private pools which mean you barely have to leave your villa if you are just after relaxation. There are some really great and varied dining options, I would particularly recommend Saffron which has some of the best Thai food I've tasted - just don't get carried away and order too much! One of the main cons here is that the beach area and seabed is quite rocky, but they do provide water shoes for you to make it more comfortable.
