Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
Tanzania is a large country, with a varied climate. Generally, the long rains run from March to May - the temperature is warm and the humidity is high. June to October is the long dry season, and the short rains are in November and December, much lighter than the long rains. January and February are again dry (the short dry season) so this is another good time to visit.

Description
Experience the wilds of the little-visited Tarangire National Park with a stay in this intimate tented camp, perched on a ridge with far-reaching views over the acacia-dotted plains of the park.
This remote safari camp has just 15 tented suites dotted across a ridge in the Tarangire National Park, each enjoying expansive views over the plains and a cooling breeze that takes the edge off the heat of the day. Minimalist in their design, with an interior that seems to take its cue from the pared-back lines and calming colour schemes of Scandinavian design, the suites and communal areas are a step away from the more traditional camps, while offering the ubiquitous safari experience.
The 15 tented suites sit away from each other, sprinkled between the baobab and acacia trees that dot the escarpment, offering a degree of privacy with breathtaking views over the valley. Vaulted ceilings, a muted colour scheme and floor-to-ceiling windows create an airy, light interior that’s dominated by a large four-poster bed draped in delicate nets. Light wooden furniture and rattan lampshades create a calming sanctuary, while the outside is equally tranquil with an outside bath sitting on the private decking.
Offering a sociable hub, the main lodge is a stylishly designed collection of cosy sofas, a convivial bar and a dining area that flows from inside to outside, while a swimming pool and spa add an extra layer of indulgence.
From guided morning walks to game drives in specially modified vehicles and sundowners around the campfire, time spent at Lemala Mpingo Ridge Lodge is varied, exhilarating and never fails to engage, capture and surprise. Elephants thundering across the plains, a leopard slinking from tree to tree; Tarangire National Park is home to many of Tanzania’s most iconic inhabitants and the lodge’s expert guides bring this landscape to life.
Experiences
-
Hot Air Balloon over the Tarangire National Park
Take a hot air balloon ride at sunrise over the Tarangire National Park for a totally unique experience that will make your trip that bit more memorable as you look down on the bush from above whilst the sun rises.
-
Night Drives in the Tarangire
Night drives are an experience which is not permitted in many of the national parks of Tanzania. In the Tarangire, however, you can head out with your guide, searching the inky dark with a spotlight. This is when the drama ramps up in the African bush.
-
Wildlife in the Tarangire
Tarangire is second only to the Serengeti for the concentration of game. It's an area of big breeding herds of elephant and buffalo. Huge baobabs provide shade for sleeping lion and night drives give the opportunity to see elusive leopard on the prowl.
