The tour begins with a short paddle through quiet, still waters before moving into to a more complex canal system, lined with stilted buildings housing everything from shops to schools. This is where boats take the place of cars and where canals replace roads. This relaxing form of slow travel, gently moving in a silent kayak, gets you close to nature and is in keeping with the ways of life of the local residents.
Being in a kayak also allows you to paddle close to the intriguing gardens to see the chillies, tomatoes and beans being grown – quite unlike any other form of gardening we know. The way to Lin Kin village, is lined with little shops and houses and it’s possible to stop at one for tea. This is a beguiling way to explore Inle Lake and it guarantees unique memories.
The tour ends with a transfer by motorboat.
