Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

The Arlberg and Alta Badia regions are typical alpine microclimates - winters are cold, from December to February with average temperatures below zero and night time temperatures can fall to minus 20°C. Winters are snowy but approximately 100 days of sunshine between December and March is the norm. Winters in Venice are less crowded, March in particular is a lovely time to visit, springtime temperatures are pleasant.

I recommend having a guide in both ski areas to familiarise yourself with the area and to show you best places to ski. We can arrange guides and instructors for you well in advance

Try to coincide your visit to Venice during carnival time - it'll be an experience you'll never forget. You'll need to book early though.

The mountain restaurants around San Cassiano all serve amazing quality food and very reasonably priced

An exclusive itinerary that takes you to two of the best ski areas in Europe, the Arlberg and the Dolomites, finishing the itinerary with a stay in the magical city of Venice. The trip includes first class accommodation throughout and stunning dining opportunities. A perfect adventure for those who love mountains, good food, culture and something a little different.

  1. Days 1-4: St Anton

You will begin your itinerary in the world-famous skiing region of the Arlberg, one of the most exclusive ski areas in the Alps and the largest Austrian ski area. Austria is also renowned for its distinctive, delicious alpine cuisine and a lively après-ski scene. Choose between staying in St Anton, Zurs or Lech, all of which have their fair share of first-class hotels with personalised service and amazing dining opportunities.

Accommodation: St. Antoner Hof (3 nights)

  2. Days 4-8: Dolomites

Next you will transfer over to the Italian Dolomites, one of the most sought-after foodie regions in Italy. San Cassiano is one of the most beautiful ski resorts to stay in, with a traditional Tyrolean charm and family run hotels.

The Dolomites offer some of the most spectacular and crowd free skiing in Europe. Still relatively unexplored by all but the Italians, it is the world’s largest interconnected ski area, and one of our favourites. Magnificent scenery amongst the vertiginous peaks of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, varied ski terrain to suit all levels and quite exceptional food (these mountains have more than their fair share of Michelin star restaurants), the fusion of Italian and Tyrolean influenced cuisines is spectacular.

Ask us about hiring a guide to experience the very best of the ski areas, especially recommended in the Dolomites to familiarise yourselves with the Sella Ronda ski circuit. And for non-skiers, there are numerous walking trails, horse drawn carriage rides and a wealth of other activities, whilst the slopes above the village are ideal for beginners.

    Accommodation: Rosa Alpina (4 nights)

  3. Days 8-10: Venice

After enjoying the scenic skiing, delicious food and the locals’ hospitality in the mountains you will take a transfer to one of the most romantic destinations in the world - Venice. Winter is a magical time to experience the romance of the city and the quieter season. In early February the city is entirely taken over by the annual carnival and its extravagant costumes and masks. A trip to coincide with this would be amazing, although we would definitely recommend booking early.

With its architecture and vistas encapsulated by so many famous artists over the centuries, it is somewhere you’ll always yearn to revisit. An UNESCO World Heritage Site, there is nowhere else in the world that can compete with its 117 islands, 150 canals, 400 bridges and myriad of winding streets, in which you can lose yourself for hours. The only traffic you’ll see is the gondole and vaporetti on the canals, and the only mode of transport you’ll need is your feet or a boat. From the Rialto to the Doge’s Palace, to Harry’s Bar to the glassblowing factories of Murano, there’s plenty to see. But to wander aimlessly through this city is one of the best ways to explore.

    Accommodation: Aman Venice (2 nights)
