Reteti Elephant Sanctuary
Samburu is famed for its impressive elephant population. Go on game drives in search of these magnificent animals and for real enthusiasts a visit to the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary is an absolute must!
Situated in the remote Mathews Range among Kenya’s second larger elephant population, Reteti Elephant Sanctuary takes in orphaned and abandoned elephant calves with an aim to rehabilitate them for release back in the wild. The elephants are released back to herds near the Sanctuary so their progress and safety can be closely monitored. A visit to the Sanctuary allows you to have first-hand insight into the expanding grassroots movement of community-driven conservation across northern Kenya and will be an excellent addition to your safari.
A donation of US$35 per person per visit is payable direct upon arrival.
