Rekero Camp is a small exclusive tented safari camp, situated amidst the teeming mass of wildlife in the Maasai Mara area, near the confluence of the Mara and Talek rivers in the South of Kenya. Nine traditional safari tents accommodate up to 20 guests.

Rekero Camp is managed by the Beatons, one of the original pioneering families who arrived in Africa in 1889. Guests will experience old time hospitality, combined with outstanding guiding as well as a unique insight into the Maasai Mara’s wildlife, culture, flora and fauna. The camp is set up seasonally (June - March) and caters for up to twenty guests in nine large tents of which two are family tents. The tented rooms have en-suite bathrooms with a flush loo and hot bucket showers.
Rekero Camp is found in the heart of the Maasai Mara Game Reserve on the banks of the Talek River. There is small crossing point close to the camp, which games comes down to drink at and during the migration wildebeest often cross hear.
This tented camp is ideally situated for the annual migration, which is the movement of over one million wildebeest and two hundred thousand zebra from the Serengeti through to the Maasai Mara in Kenya. Every year the camp is broken down and removed for two months to allow the bush and the many wildlife neighbours to return to the site leaving a fresh and recovered wilderness for the next season.
When to visit
One of my favourite African mornings has to be waking up to hear a herd of elephant feeding round and over my tent, with that wonderful rumbling sound as they communicated to each other. Then I noticed a tiny little baby elephant standing right by my wash basin in front of my tent…magical.
