History of Hopedale, Northern Labrador

Travelling ashore this morning in a Zodiac you’ll land in Hopedale, home to the Hopedale Moravian Mission, one of the oldest buildings east of Quebec. Built in 1782, it offers a chance to uncover the influence of the early Christian missionaries on the Inuit inhabitants while a visit to the local museum reveals more about the stories that have led to the area being designated a Canadian National Historic Site. You may also like to buy some of the beautiful carvings and crafts produced by the Inuit as a memento of your visit.
