Bay of Islands
With an abundance big marlin, whales, penguins, dolphins, gannets and many other species, the 144 Islands and secluded bays that make up The Bay of Islands region are collectively the finest maritime park in New Zealand. The region is also known as the cultural centre of New Zealand, with places such as Russell, Opua, Paihia and Kerikeri on its map.

Waitangi is also in the Bay of Islands area and is where New Zealand’s founding document, the Treaty of Waitangi, was signed in 1840.
