The climate in New Zealand is incredibly pleasant, with warm and balmy summers and cold crisp winter months with wonderful clear, blue skies. The warmer high-season months of November to April are perfect for outdoor exploration. The colder months of June to August are the best time to ski.
Both North and South Islands are drier on the east coast, rather than on the west, where mountain ranges act as a trap for the moisture-rich winds from the Tasman Sea. It is also worth remembering that it is usually a few degrees cooler on the South Island than the North Island and as New Zealand has a maritime climate, the weather can change rapidly.

If you're looking for a boutique property in the beautiful Marlborough region, then look no further. The Marlborough Lodge is a charming property which has recently undergone a major renovation. The property was previously a Victorian Convent, dating back to 1901, and it still retains many of the original features, such as the stained glass windows. With its large oak doors and wooden beams, the hotel to some extent feels like a boarding school, but this is all part of its charm. All of the rooms at Marlborough Lodge are very different but with plenty of character, and there are also beautiful gardens surrounding the property that are great to explore, as well as the neighbouring wineries, of course. During your stay here, make sure to take advantage of the bicycles, enjoy a game of tennis or take a dip in the outdoor heated swimming pool (summer only). As you'll be on a Half Board basis during your stay here, you'll get to enjoy the delicious cooking of the resident chef, who prepares wonderful meals using locally sourced NZ produce.

With a pretty impressive history, Marlborough Lodge is the perfect place to stay to enjoy this popular wine region. Located amongst the famous vineyards of Marlborough, this lodge used to be a convent and has been beautifully refurbished and transformed into the lodge it is now. As soon as I arrived at Marlborough Lodge I felt extremely welcomed by Peter, the Lodge Manager, who made us feel right at home and told us all about the surrounding area. The food at Marlborough Lodge was absolutely delicious; their chefs are extremely talented and creative. I would highly recommend a stay at this charming and intimate little lodge.
