Boutique Quinta Chanabnal
Close to the world-famous Mayan archaeological site of Palenque, the Quinta Chanabnal evokes a Mayan palace complex, and combines traditional pre-Hispanic designs and contemporary sophistication to create an enchantingly romantic boutique hotel.
Highlights
-
Palenque's only boutique hotel option
-
Authentic Mayan architecture and décor
-
Superb locally-raised organic produce served at the restaurant
-
Beautiful gardens and swimming pool
Set amidst luxuriant jungle, the Quinta Chanabnal fuses historically accurate Mayan designs and twenty-first century comfort to make a small oasis of charm.
The hotel’s seven suites are opulently designed, with terracotta stone floors, wooden furniture and beautiful beds dressed in Egyptian cotton and embroidered silk cushions. Outside balconies look over beautiful grounds abundant with wildlife, and a swimming pool set amongst rocks and cascading waterfalls, while the bathrooms are of marble with pewter mirrors. The Presidential Suite is a bungalow with a pyramid roof of fabulous Mayan sculptures and has a covered veranda with swish wicker chairs, wall art and tropical plants.
The restaurant is intimate and it’s a great place to enjoy a candle-lit dinner of speciality organically raised Chiapas dishes such as lamb in an annatto sauce, or fish wrapped in plantain leaves.
The Quinta Chanabnal is a wonderful base for exploring the extraordinary site of Palenque, mystically shrouded in the rainforest, and you can easily include visits to other Mayan sites such as Bonampak and Yaxchilan, or visit the mysteriously blue waters of Agua Azul. The hotel also has a temazcal or Mayan sweat lodge, where you can cleanse yourself in the steam created from hot stones and herbal waters, or have a clay body rub.
