Mauritius enjoys a typically tropical climate with year-round heat, although the southeast trade winds help it never to feel too muggy. The summer months are from December to April, when it can nevertheless be extremely humid, and the winter, such as it is, runs from May to November, and is cooler and drier.
The best months to visit Mauritius are May to early December. January and February, the peak cyclone months, are best avoided by water-sports enthusiasts and divers. Cyclones rarely hit Mauritius (although Rodrigues has suffered far more regularly than the mainland) but cyclones way out at sea can bring days of squally rain.
Coastal temperatures range between 25°C and 33°C in summer and between 18°C and 24°C in winter. On the plateau it will be some 5°C cooler. The highlands are also the wettest part of the island – it can rain here at any time of year, and even when it’s not raining the area can be cloaked in low-lying cloud. When the winds are at their strongest in July and August it can be blustery on the east coast, though the breeze brings welcome relief in summer.
Apart from the Christmas-New Year peak, Mauritius doesn’t really have high and low seasons. The situation is more dependent on outside factors (such as the French school holidays, which cause a big increase in demand and prices in August).

The location of Dinarobin is what makes it so special. Set on a beautiful white sandy beach with the backdrop of the Le Morne mountain behind, the photo opportunities are endless. The beachfront rooms and the individual villas are really special here at Dinarobin.
There is a huge choice of restaurants here as you also have the option to head over to the sister property Paradis which is located just next door. My personal favourite was the Pan-Asian restaurant Umami - the sushi was outstanding! The main restaurant offers a themed buffet each evening.

Located on a beautiful stretch of beach with a stunning backdrop of Le Morne this is a wonderful choice for couples. with a choice of restaurants and facilities available including water sports, a 18 hole golf course overlooking Le Morne and a beautiful Spa. The accommodation is a little more traditional in style and spacious and I would opt for the beach front suites, a lovely choice for couples and honeymooners.
Claire Walker (Staff)
The views from this hotel have to be some of the best on the island, a great beach view complimented by the incredible back drop of the Le Morne mountain. The pools are heated in the winter months too and with a choice of five there is plenty of space. You also have access to all of the facilities at the neighbouring Paradis hotel, combine this with a spectacular 18 hole golf course, spa and restaurants it is a great choice for couples.

Dinarobin is made up 6 'crescents' of accommodation with all but one having a private pool. The rooms and suites here are all spacious light and have great sea views. Although all the water sports are located in the sister hotel 'parades' it's easy to get down to via shuttle. Having the Paradis so close means you have the choice of 8 great dining options in the evenings - be sure to pre-book if you have big preferences. If you are looking to get into kite surfing there's a centre on site where instruction can be arranged! If you are looking for something a little more relaxed it's definitely worth checking out the lovely spa where lots of different treatments are available, on a few days a week there's also complimentary yoga sessions!

I love the entrance at the property with Le Morne towering over you - very dramatic. The hotel is very suited to couples and honeymooners with a very quiet and intimate vibe. It's a great addition that you can dine and use the facilities next door at the Paradis too.

Attached to Paradis Hotel & Golf Resort on the Le Morne Peninsula you will find Dinarobin. This is a quieter hotel than Paradis, but it is still fairly large with 170 suites and a few exclusive villas. The suites are designed in a crescent formation with a pool in the middle. It is best for adults as there is no kids club and no water sports except kite surfing, with the area being a unique spot for this.

Dinarobin is located just along the beach from Paradis and can be reached by golf buggy so you can enjoy the best of both hotels. Dinarobin is a hotel which accepts families but I personally would only advise parents to bring slightly younger children as all the water sports facilities operate from Paradis. Having said that if you are keen kite surfer then Dinarobin is close to one of the best spots to do this (activity is chargeable). The hotel has a kids club and rooms connect. Each cluster of rooms have a shared pool if guests would prefer not to walk to the main pool. Plenty of dining options as you have the option of going to Paradis. The club rooms have the benefits of the club lounge open from the morning until 8pm serving a light continental breakfast, finger sandwiches for lunch, afternoon tea and drinks early evening. For slightly larger families, the hotel has larger villas, more contemporary in style than the hotel rooms and has all the facilities just there!

Dinarobin has the most stunning location at the foot of La Morne. The rooms are very comfortable, each with it's own private terrace giving you direct access out into the gardens for those on the ground floor. I would recommend the "Club" suites, which give you exclusive access to the Club Lounge, where you can get complimentary drinks and snacks throughout the day. The beach immediately in front of the pool isn't great, but head just a few minutes to the right, and it opens up to a wonderful stretch of sandy beach. Ideal for couples and families alike.

Although a member of the SD team, I went here as a guest. I was planning a honeymoon in late July/early August. We were pretty clear about what we wanted but did not know where we would find it. Our checklist included a stylish and very comfortable hotel, somewhere warm (but not scorching), on a beach with great watersports ideally surfing but also windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing and water skiing, good food and drink at reasonable prices, preferably long-haul (before kids spoiled our fun!), but all within a good but not silly budget (2-3kpp). We looked at options literally all over the world and discounted most of them:
Hawaii - lovely but mainly big American resorts (with big Americans) unless you have a big budget
Caribbean - wrong time of year for wind and waves and slight hurricane risk. Many floral pattern bedspreads (not favoured by Mrs E) featuring in the second tier hotels!
Fiji - lovely but pricey and a long way. High risk of short marriage due to boat-based surf trips
Maldives - nice to look at but we would have been bored stiff
Bali and Lombok - great value and lovely hotels but getting busy and risk of crowded waves
Nihiwatu - great surfing but very expensive nowadays and slightly uncomfortable with the concept of private waves
Portugal - great but we can go there when we have kids and likely to be crowded with families in July/August
Tahiti - amazing but a long way to go to find out that I am not Andy Irons (or Croesus)
So, after many hours spent researching we settled on Mauritius, perhaps the most obvious honeymoon destination of all.
It was low season (read winter) in Mauritius but Le Morne is the most sheltered and warmest part at this time of year due to prevailing Easterly winds. There is masses to do and much of it is inclusive - water-skiing & wakeboarding, sailing and windsurfing are all available at Le Paradis, the Dinarobin's sister hotel (next door). The kit is mediocre but for serious windsurfing and kitesurfing the Club Mistral (at extra cost) along the road is very well equipped. There is also a golf course (looked good to my inexpert eye) as well as some decent tennis courts and other boat trips etc available.
Le Morne is a great place for a surfers honeymoon. I cant bring myself to reveal too much about surf spots on the internet but, while not a great place for beginners, there is a variety of reef breaks to suit anyone who can surf a bit through to anyone seeking fast, hollow and genuinely challenging waves. Seek and you shall find (or book it with SD and I'll tell you!)
Le Dinarobin fitted the bill perfectly for us. Having been wary of a resort hotel initially, the extra facilities and dine-around options (shared with Le Paradis) meant we could change restaurant almost every night. In hindsight a boutique hotel could have been pretty repetitive. Le Morne is an exceptional corner of the place Mark Twain compared to heaven and the Dinarobin is an attractive hotel. The Indian Ocean sets the standard for good hotels worldwide and the Mauritians set the standard for service, so while it is by no means the most expensive hotel in Mauritius (and would probably not claim to be the best), even my wife (who used to run Eagle's Nest) struggled to find fault with it.
The only downside we could see was the slight risk of less than perfect weather at this time of year, but we only had a couple of cloudy days. For the many people getting married during the UK summer and looking for a stylish and sporty honeymoon outside Europe, this is hard to beat. Equally, as parents now, we could easily see ourselves going back there for a superb family holiday.

Lovely resort and again an incredible experience

Of the two sister properties or Paradis and Dinarobin, this is the quieter option. Still set in the same fantastic beachfront location as Paradis, with Le Morne overlooking it, guests can enjoy the wealth of facilities on offer from the neighbouring hotel yet have a quieter environment.
Dinarobin is the couples and young families choice. It has recently been refurbished so is looking rather nice, with thatched cottages scattered through the gardens housing the rooms and suites. You're never more than a few steps from the gorgeous beach, and this is one of the best beaches on the island. It is also fairly sheltered as well from the South easterly breezes, so good even in the cooler winter months.
Dinarobin is a great place to spa too. It has a wonderful on site spa with a myriad of treatments to relax into.
The hotel feels a little more exclusive too and a lot calmer than Paradis, so by staying here it does give you the best of both worlds, all the facilities of both hotels but in a quieter environment.
