Val d'Isère boasts one of the longest ski seasons in the world because, unlike other resorts above 1800m, 80% of the skiing happens above 2000 meters. As a result, early and late season offer reliable great conditions. Being high, it is cold though and we think March and April are the best times to visit Val.

A super apartment chalet just a few moments from the slopes. If you're brave enough to ski down "La Face", then you can almost ski to the door.

To start planning your vacation to Chalet Nepenthe

A delightful three bedroom chalet apartment situated in the exclusive Les Carats area of Val d'Isère, just 200 meters from La Face piste. Perfect for a family, Chalet Nepenthe comes with a Scott Dunn chef/host. Sleeps 5+1.

‘Nepenthe’ is an ancient Greek word meaning something that chases away sorrow. We think this is a pretty fair reflection of what skiing vacations are all about. This delightful three bedroom apartment is snug but makes an ideal retreat for a family to enjoy a thoroughly relaxing week. It's located in the exclusive private enclave of Les Carats. The famous La Face piste is only 200m away, making Nepenthe nearly ski in / ski out. Although the bedrooms are small it is stylishly decorated and feels much like an authentic Alpine chalet inside.

Chalet Nepenthe is on the second and third floors of the Topaze building and is accessed by the lift. On the lower floor there is an open plan living area with a fireplace, huge sofas that you sink into and a large south facing balcony which looks onto the forest behind which is ideal for soaking up the sun in the second half of the season. The kitchen is open plan so that you can see the chef host at work and discuss your skiing plans at breakfast.

The master double bedroom has a partially open plan bathroom and a balcony with a view of the Eleina mountain. The second double bedroom is on the same floor and has an en suite shower room.

Up the internal staircase is a small twin room which is ideal for children. It has a balcony and a small shower room. Just next door is the “den” – a separate TV and games room that gives the children some of their own space.

A ski/boot room with boot warmers is located on the ground floor with access to the chalet via a lift or stairs. All of our chalets are non-smoking inside.

The entire apartment has been finished to a high standard with a mixture of tiled and wooden floors. For a family wanting a skiing vacation with privacy and peace and quiet, the combination of ‘Nepenthe’ and our revered Scott Dunn chalet service is hard to beat.

Val d’Isère is a mecca for downhill skiing for good reason. It has enough to keep skiers of all standards challenged and entertained for a lifetime, let alone a week. The off piste potential is limitless and the snow record enviable.

Val d'Isère has plenty to offer less enthusiastic skiers too. The Center Aquasportif has fantastic facilities including 2 swimming pools, climbing wall, multi activity sports hall, fitness suite, gym, squash courts and a Wellness area with sauna, steam bath, spa, cold baths and hydro-massage.

Designated walking trails are a great way of appreciating the scenery and there is an ice rink, husky riding, parapenting, skidooing, cross country skiing and much more.

There is a wealth of quality restaurants in the village and on the mountain (many of which are accessible to non skiers). The shops and galleries offer some great shopping (both the window and the real varieties).

Price Family - February 2017 (Guest)

It was great to get bespoke chalet service in a private family chalet for 5. True luxury. Becky, the resort manager was a great source of local knowledge, and her willingness to help out and go the extra mile when I suffered a minor injury was a godsend. India our chalet host was lovely and efficient. Paul, our chef, was incredibly flexible and willing to do anything to adapt to the children's preferences. He cooked gluten free all week, bought special sprinkles for the cakes, and was cheerfully thoughtful and proactive about remembering all the family's quirks. All the staff were incredibly helpful and made us feel as if nothing as too much trouble. Although our chalet was a little out of the town center the on-tap drivers and ski-out location made this a negligible issue. We loved being able to just hang out as a family without the constraints of needing to dress up for hotel dining but with the excellent quality of food and service nevertheless.

Lomax Family - February 2017 (Guest)

Rollo our host was absolutely fantastic. We had some truly wonderful food and he was a font of knowledge on a range of subjects from local ski runs, places to eat lunch on the piste as well as general knowledge which entertained us no end. He was lovely with the children and we really hope he is still here when we return! Every evening after the kids had gone to bed and the gin and tonic was ready waiting for us! A really magical vacation from the moment we closed our front door at home. Attention to detail, amazing food, brilliant childcare, beautiful chalet - the whole package!

Butler Family - February 2017 (Guest)

Amazing vacation, our four year old had an amazing time in the kids club, and we parents were looked after by Rollo and the rest of the team. Couldn't be better. The drivers were fantastic - always contactable and always happy to help. Charlotte and Laura looked after our four year old, she was very happy and had an amazing time. Michelle was very helpful, visiting us daily, and made a huge effort organising dog sledging, restaurant reservations, spa day, printing and scanning documents, and many other requests. Scott Dunn is the best for families and children.

Murphy Family - March 2016 (Guest)

Best way to describe the vacation is the kids crying on the night before we leave as they didn't want to go home! Really has been a first class experience for the whole family. Booked with Alice - extremely helpful & knowledgeable Chalet manager Tom - nothing too much trouble, everything taken care of for us, great lunches booked for us! Chef Lia & Host George - wonderful! So good with the children,

helping in mornings with skis & boots, making our life so much easier! Even arranged an Easter egg hunt on our last day for the kids which they were so excited about. Food & wine brilliant! Friendly & professional - a great combination, couldn't have asked for a better chalet team. It really was a "vacation", nothing to worry about in the lead up or whilst on vacation.

Astur Family - March 2016 (Guest)

The chalet is wonderful, a home from home. We love returning every year as its a perfect size for us and it's so convenient. The childcare team were once again outstanding. Abe had a brilliant week and it was Grant who made it so special for him. It was just all so easy, effortless and fun! He is an asset to the Scott Dunn team. Millie was also fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. And they are all so happy!! The drivers were brilliant this year too. Very friendly, helpful and professional.

Fall Family - March 2016 (Guest)

Ed, our chef, was fantastic and produced incredible food. He was charming, a great hit with the kids and very flexible with their food requests - they were most distraught to hear he had a day off!

Alice Peal (Staff)

This sweet little chalet apartment is the perfect homely get away for a little family wanting a luxury and relaxing ski trip. Once inside, it feels like a cute little chalet, you dont feel like youre in a chalet apartment at all. The setting feels exclusive and quiet, yet you are right by the slopes and easily accessible into town via the lift.
