Average time to visit
The best time to visit Kyushu is in the spring from March – May with pleasant warm temperatures and autumn from September – November when days will still be warm. The summer months from mid-June to early July can be very wet with torrential rain and July - August are the hottest months with high humidity. December – February is usually reasonable but temperatures can drop below freezing with snowfall.

Description
Takefue is a beautiful ryokan nestled in a bamboo grove in the heart of the Mt Aso range. There is a lovely traditional and rustic feel to this property and the natural hot stings at Takefue are powered by the same volcanic source of Mt Aso itself.
Spread over 32 acres, Takefue is surrounded by beautiful and lush bamboo forests. Traditional in design and intimate in nature, this ryokan provides a unique experience in the heart of Kyushu. Each building within the estate is individually designed and evokes traditional farmhouse with rustic red exteriors and black beams.
The 11 rooms at Takefue are spread over the extensive grounds, connected through pretty stone pathways and surrounded by the dense bamboo forests which cocoon this beautiful ryokan. Each room is individually designed and comes equipped with private onsens and beautiful views over the landscaped estate. Following tradition tatami mats, clean lines and sliding doors provide an authentic and calming environment promoting the sense of serenity that comes with staying in a ryokan.
Traditional Kaiseki meals are served in the comfort of your room completing the fully pampered service. Only the best and freshest seasonal ingredients are used to create meals that are a feast for the senses, with each dish presented more beautiful than the last. Alongside the comfort of rooms and private onsens for when guests wish to step outside of their personal havens there is a fantastic bamboo sauna room and Zen spa offering traditional massages.
Located near to Kurokawa Onsen, this is one of the most well known resort towns in Japan and there are plenty of beautiful nearby sites to explore including Mt Aso, Nabegatski Waterfalls, Oshitoishi Hill, Aso Shrine and the gorgeous plains of Kusasenrigahama.
Accommodation
There are just 11 rooms at Takefue Ryokan all based around the traditional Japanese design with clean lines and tatami mats to promote the feeling of serenity and calm. Most rooms come complete with their own private outdoor onsen baths and are all designed individually to take advantage of the beautiful views and natural features nearby.
Childcare
Children are welcome at Takefue Ryokan but please note that children cannot be accommodated in Amato Room, which is limited to two adults.
Facilities
Most of your time at Takefue Ryokan will be spent enjoying the beautiful hospitality and private onsens. However, alongside there is a fantastic bamboo sauna room, Zen Spa providing traditional massages and large public onsen.
