At over 100 years old the Hotel Mont Blanc has an interesting history with various politicians, artists and royal families visiting over the years as well as legendary mountaineering pioneers. Having been recently acquired by the Taittinger family it has been carefully renovated by interior designer Sybille de Margerie which has kept the architectural style but updated it with stylish contemporary touches.
Outdoor activities are in abundance in Chamonix with hiking, biking, horseriding and climbing just some of the activities you can enjoy and if you want to relax at the hotel for a while the outdoor swimming pool and relaxation area really come in to their own during the summer months. Taking a dip then laying in the warm sun whilst gazing up at Europe's highest peak is a truly unique experience in itself. When to visit
Although Chamonix hosted the world’s first ever winter Olympics in 1924, the games were not officially recognised as such until two years later. The games were initially referred to simply as ‘Winter Sports Week’ until the International Olympic Committee gave them their full approval in 1926.
