Domaine des Etangs
  • Explore 2,500 acres of enchanting woodland, ponds and lakes by bike or boat

  • The cottages are perfect for a family or group stay, offering plenty of space and privacy

  • The rustic restaurant serves delicious food in a relaxed setting using ingredients grown on the estate

The estate is the perfect place to get away from it all, leaving technology behind to take time to get back to nature and enjoy the great outdoors. Set out on foot, by bike or perhaps in a canoe to explore the extensive grounds, where you’re surrounded by woodland, vegetable gardens, ponds and rivers, as well as the estate’s prize collection of Limousine cows. Inside, retreat to the spa where you can soak tired limbs in the Thermal Bath, take a swim in the pool or enjoy a massage.

Domine des Etangs has an impressive display of artwork, often making you forget you are in a country retreat hotel rather than a refined gallery. The main chateau emulates the charm of a family home, dating back to the 11th Century, where you’ll find 7 vast suites and bedrooms. The remaining bedrooms and cottages are spread among the estate, some with their own pontoons so you can take to the water directly from your dwelling. The cottages are perfect for a family or group stay, offering a warm and cosy farmhouse atmosphere and up to 5 bedrooms with large sitting rooms and inviting fireplaces.

Dyades is the hotel’s restaurant, lead by renowned chef Loic Lecoin. The restaurant is inspired by the word “dyad”, meaning the marriage of two complementary ideas and principles, fusing both tradition and sophistication. The chefs here work closely with the local gardeners and make the most of the food available on the estate, collecting crayfish from the Moulde river, which winds through the estate and picking fruit and vegetables from the extensive gardens.

This hidden gem is an excellent place to explore the French countryside and an great base to explore the surrounding area of charming french towns and rolling vineyards.
