Nestled at the base of Blackcomb Mountain, Whistler's landmark ski in ski out hotel, The Fairmont Chateau Whistler defines mountain luxury. With access to some of North America's best ski terrain, the resort is ideal for both families and couples.
The Fairmont Chateau Whistler enjoys one of the best positions in the resort. With direct access to Blackcomb Mountain, it has some of North America's finest skiing right on its doorstep. The main village is just a ten minute walk away, but you'll find plenty around the hotel itself in the upper village. You'll receive a really warm welcome here, and nothing is too much trouble. Being met by the ski valet at the bottom of the slopes each day, is a real treat.
The Fairmont is an elegant hotel, with comfortable and spacious rooms, many of which are perfect for families, and overlook the mountains and the village. The hotel has an exceptionally wide choice of restaurants and bars. From the Wildflower which serves locally inspired food to the Grill Room whose speciality is surf and turf. Guests can enjoy afternoon tea or one of the many beers on offer in the Mallard Lounge, or a deli style snack at Portobello. A good winter choice is the fondue at The Chalet, and you'll often find live entertainment in one or more of the venues. The Vida Spa and Health Club has state of the art equipment, where early risers can enjoy a swim in the outdoor heated lap pool, followed by breakfast. The pool even has underwater music! There are indoor and outdoor whirlpools, sauna and steam rooms - all perfect for a post ski wind down. And how about sitting in the hot tub with a cocktail surrounded by snow and mountains?
Whistler was host to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and is an ideal family resort.

The Fairmont is easily one of the most recognisable hotels in Whistler, with the iconic turrets spot-able from afar. Despite the grandeur of the hotel, a truly cosy atmosphere can be found within. The Mallard lounge is testament to this, proving the perfect spot to relax or grab a bite to eat with an open fire and great views of the mountain.
For those looking for something a little more intimate and exclusive, but with access to same excellent facilities, then Fairmont Gold is a must! With rooms on the higher floors, a separate lounge, where breakfast is served and a dedicated concierge you get the feeling of a much more boutique size hotel - but in one of the best locations in Whistler!

On first arrival to the Fairmont I was surprised by quite how huge it is, not an architectural beauty in my opinion. But once inside I really liked the warm bustling atmosphere. If you like a lively bar then the Fairmont is great, the Mallard Lounge in the centre of the hotel always feels fairly busy and full of life. Due to the scale of the hotel you may feel it is less personalised than other hotels however the staff were all lovely and the food was of a high standard. The Fairmont Gold level rooms offer a more personal service and guests booked into the gold category rooms have a dedicated check in and concierge desk on the eighth floor, as well as lounge with complimentary breakfast and afternoon snacks. The rooms also felt noticeably more luxurious with a slightly different style decor and fireplaces. The on site dining choices are excellent so Fairmont is great if you enjoy having different dinner options on site (there ate three different options are available each day, Wildflower, the Mallard Lounge and the fine dining Grill restaurant). Overall I really liked the location and relaxed atmosphere of the Fairmont however if you prefer smaller or intimate hotels then this might not necessarily be your cup of tea.
