Average time to visit
Cambodia is hot all year round and the best time to visit is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. It starts to get wetter in May and the wettest months are September and October. It is still possible to visit during this time as rain usually falls as short sharp storms. November is a fantastic month to visit Cambodia as it is very green after the rainy season and the lakes and rivers are full of water.

Song Saa is a private island hideaway hidden away on a paradise island in Cambodia’s untouched Koh Rong Archipelago. Boasting Cambodia's only over-water villas, Song Saa is a true escape off the well worn path through Asia.
In the Khmer language, 'Song Saa' means 'the sweethearts', reflecting the way the property spans the two tropical islands of Koh Ouen and Koh Bong, with just a footbridge connecting the two. Song Saa is the first ever luxury island development in Cambodia, setting a new standard in environmentally sensitive, luxurious accommodation just 30 minutes by speedboat from Sihanoukville.
The property features 27 luxury pool villas, situated in the lush rainforest, the ocean view villas on the golden beaches and perched over the turquoise waters of Cambodia's coastline, each with the most modern of facilities, designed to work in harmony with the environment.
Song Saa is also home to the fantastic Vista Restaurant and Lounge, affording 360-degree views of the ocean whilst dining on delicious food prepared by the talented chefs. This is a spectacular view point for sunrise and sunset and starry nights are best observed at the over-water bar or at the bar on the beach.
For underwater enthusiasts, Song Saa is paradise, as it sits amidst a pristine marine reserve, home to an abundance of fascinating marine life, including dugongs, seahorses and exotic species of tropical fish. Explore this amazing under water world, or take to the ocean in a multitude of other ways including sailing and kayaking.
Song Saa resort consists of 27 one and two-bedroom villas. All of the villas have similar interiors, ocean views and private infinity pools and there is a choice of three locations - Jungle, Over Water & Ocean View. The Jungle Villas are nestled on the hilltop with spectacular views of the ocean. Over Water Villas are on the sunset side of the island and have direct sea access and Ocean View Villas have a private beach area and unforgettable views of the Cambodian sunrise. All villas feature: mini bar, air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, phone, iPod dock, indoor and outdoor showers, sunken bathtubs, unlimited laundry service, use of kayaks, boats and snorkelling kit.
Children of all ages are welcome to come and stay at Song Saa. The resort has a play house which has lots of games and toys for children to play with. There is also a babysitting service available with prior notice.
The facilities on Song Saa's two islands include an over water restaurant and cocktail lounge with 360-degree ocean views, infinity edge swimming pool with poolside restaurant offering delicious 'Cambodian street-food', a water sports centre providing motorised and non-motorised water sports, a beach side bar and a spa offering luxurious treatments within a hilltop location.
Song Saa offers excellent diving and snorkelling in the marine reserve, water sports, a fully equipped gym, kayaking in the fresh water estuaries on nearby Kong Rong, guided mangrove and eco tours, visits to traditional Cambodian fishing villages, trips to nearby beaches, yoga and meditation.

From the moment I was greeted at the airport I felt completely relaxed in Song Saa's hands. It really felt like I had been let in on a hidden secret and the design of the hotel is just spectacular - just didn't want to leave!
Cambodia is tipped to be the next big thing in Asia, with this place, due to open towards the end of the year, confirming its ascent upmarket. Song Saa is exciting because it mixes pure-shores escapism and an admirably eco-friendly attitude. The resort spreads over two teeny white-sand islets in the gloriously untouched Koh Rong archipelago, just off the Cambodian coast, close to Sihanoukville. The owners are sincere about wanting the property to have the lightest of footprints, so they have launched their environmental projects four years ago, well before they finished the hotel. The 25 villas, divided between those dipping their toes in the sapphire waters of the Gulf of Thailand and others snuggled into the jungle canopy, shamelessly steak style statements from the top Maldivian resorts. Expect a cool indoor-outdoor ambience, lots of virgin-white fabrics, floor-to-ceiling windows and sunken decks with oversized loungers. Song Saa, however, has ambitions beyond a peel-me-a-grape paradise - it has its eyes on authenticity, so guests are offered mountain treks and expeditions to local fishing villages. It will also offer a splendid add-on - a private seaplane transfer to Siem Reap and the unforgettable Angkor temple complex. This could be the ultimate twin-centre trip.
