Offering warm temperatures throughout the year the Caribbean is a perfect year round destination. With an average of 9 hours sunshine a day the peak season runs from December through to April which is the dry season when you can expect very little rainfall. May to November are the slightly wetter months where you will find an increase in rainfall as the summer season goes on and with that some humidity, however the Summer months are still a great time to travel as the temperatures are hot and the rain tends to come in short heavy bursts but not all day long. The wettest months with the most humidity are September and October and these are the most probable months for hurricanes to occur in the region although many islands have not experienced hurricanes for a number of years. The average daily temperatures range from the mid-seventies in the winter months and mid-eighties in the summertime.

Little Dix Bay is a fabulous resort for families with excellent facilities and activities on offer. I really liked the feel and atmosphere at Little Dix Bay. It offers a typically relaxed Caribbean vibe, but with high standards of service and a really great team of staff. Many of the staff have worked at the resort for 20 years or more - testament to a good environment for both staff and guests. It was definitely the most slick and manicured resorts that we visited during my trip around the British Virgin Islands. I particularly liked the style and decor of the new Treehouse Suites which were renovated for the resorts' recent 50th Anniversary. The Treehouse Suites are more contemporary and stylish than the other rooms and they can accommodate 2 adults or a family of 2 adults and 2 children. Though for more space, the best rooming options for families are to take two interconnecting Ocean Cottages or two interconnecting Junior Suites. It is worth pointing out that there are no tvs in the rooms, but you really do not need to watch tv when there are so many things to do in the beautiful outdoors. None of the rooms have keys - Virgin Gorda is an incredibly relaxed and safe island.

Upon arrival into the British Virgin Islands I was met by Rosewoods very efficient ground crew and whisked by private launch around to Virgin Gorda which is where the beautiful Little Dix bay sits in the most glorious beachfront location. There are many rooms to choose from at Little Dix but I have to say I particularly fell in love with the Tree House Cottages as they are a little different to the normal rooms you see out in the Caribbean, they are hexagonal shaped and positioned up on stilts set back into the beautiful lush gardens, below you will find your own private garden patio complete with hammock to lie back in and catch some rays! the beach is a short walk along a shared footpath but if you'd prefer to be directly by the beach then I would recommend the hotels original Beach Front Cottages which are ground level a stones throw from the sand and have amazing ocean views!!
The hotel is great for families it has two key ingredients a fantastic kids club with lots of activities going on which is called the Children's Grove, I was very impressed by the mock pirate shipwreck inside and the rails of fancy dress clothes for the younger kids to dress up in, they also have the sweetest play house that all little girls will love built like a traditional Caribbean chattel house and painted in pastel colours.
The second key ingredient for me is for the grown ups! the spa here is amazing and I would go so far as to say it is one of the best in the Caribbean, it is located on the cliff top with the most stunning infinity edge pool overlooking the ocean, I thoroughly recommend the Milk and Honey wrap which is absolutely amazing!
Dress code applicable after sunset in the restaurants: collared shirt and trousers, no jeans, t-shirts, trainers or shirts.
