Chief's Island

Encircled by the floodplains and waterways of the Okavango Delta, Chief’s Island is a fertile, verdant land in the exclusive Mombo concession of the Moremi Game Reserve. Open grasslands mingle with forest and lagoons, a diversity of habitat that draws a range of wildlife to the island, including the lion, elephant, wildbeest, hippo, giraffe and African painted dog.

Explore these rich ecosystems by 4x4 and mokoro (dugout canoe), paddling past large crocodiles and seeking out wallowing hippos. Don’t forget to look up to catch sight of over 500 species of bird.
