In the western, central and eastern Bhutan you will mostly experience cold European-like weather. Winter lasts here from November to March. The Monsoon occurs between June and August when the temperature is normally between 8° and 21°C. October and November are arguably the best months, when the monsoon has passed and the skies are clear. The spring months of March, April and May are best for the flora, but it can be stormy as the monsoon builds up for July-September.

Ideal for a comfortable and pleasant stay in Bhutan’s capital city, Osel is located in the heart of the Thimphu Valley but off of the main road, providing extra peace and quiet. The views are amazing and the large picture windows take full advantage of this with lovely vistas of the Eastern Himalayas, the Tashicho Dzong fortress and the seated Buddha. The hotel is clean, comfortable and tastefully-decorated in a simple but modern style, with a few Bhutanese touches to reflect the location. Osel is 55-kilometres from Paro International Airport and the hotel is an easy 5-minute walk from Thimphu’s main attractions.

The 31 rooms and four suites are generously-sized, full of natural light and offer fabulous views. Rooms include a spacious modern en-suite bathroom, seating area, satellite TV, DVD player on request, safe, Wi-Fi, minibar and heating. Upgrade to a suite for home-from-home living, with a bedroom, bathroom, living room, dining area and small kitchenette. Free-standing bathtubs enjoy the same incredible views over the mountainous landscape.

The restaurant serves local cuisine and has an outdoor patio for al fresco dining and there is also a coffee shop and bar. The hotel is happy to arrange massages on request. This is a modest unpretentious hotel with welcoming and friendly staff providing a pleasant base from which to explore Thimphu.
