Your Free Time at Arkaba - Scott Dunn Suggests
Flinders Ranges, South Australia, Australia
Located out in the Flinders Ranges, Arkaba has some fantastic outback experiences on offer. Guests can enjoy safari drives; the chance to see native kangaroos, wallabies and emus; sundowners in the outback and tours of local aboriginal rock art.
Arkaba is a true outback experience and there’s a whole host of unique activities to take part in during your stay here. We would recommend going on a safari drive through the vast 60,000 acre property where you’ll head through gorges and valleys, on the search for the native wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies and emus. The Ridgetop Sundowners drive is a firm favourite where you’ll round off your drive with a glass of local South Australian wine on a scenic ridge-top, whilst the sun sets over the surrounding Ranges.
Guided bush-walking tours are also on offer, as well as bird watching tours and trips to Wilpena Pound foothills to see ancient Adnyamathanha (Hill People) rock art. Discover more of the Flinders Ranges on one of the lodge based 4WD outback safari's. Follow the red rust tracks through Bunyeroo Gorge admiring a plethora of native wildlife before arriving at The Prairie Hotel - an outback pub in a town of just 7 people. Here you can try local ‘delicacies’ from the likes of smoked kangaroo, camel sausage and emu pate; this isn’t your normal restaurant!
