Exclusive Morelia city tour with family cookery class

After being collected from your hotel by your private guide you will begin with a tour of Morelia's charming city center, exploring the colonial streets of Michoacán’s state capital. Flanked by its iconic pink cathedral you will start in the beautiful main square, stopping for a visit to the House of Morelos, a museum which provides a fascinating but gentle introduction into the history of Mexico's independence from Spain, housed in the former home of José Maria Morelos, a local hero of the independence around 200 years ago. Continue by exploring the Music Conservatory, the Bishop's Palace and the College of Saint Nicolás, as well as a visit to the famous aqueduct which is a firm favorite with children and families.
After working up an appetite you will be taken to the famous San Miguelito restaurant in the center where a local family will introduce you to the art of 'grapping' tamales, a local delicacy created using corn husks and filled with spices, meats and vegetables which are rich in flavor. Engaging for both children and parents, the class will culminate in a tasting session where you will be able to tuck into the region's most delectable specialties, including those all-important tamales!
