Families in search of facilities to suit all, a beautiful beachside location with true five-star luxury may find the Mandarin hard to beat. The hotel benefits from seven restaurants and bars, five of which occupy amazing locations stretched along the beachfront. Two pristine sandy beaches and a small marina are just a small part of a resort which feels much larger than it actually is, ensuring that no matter how high the occupancy you never feel the clamber that its often unavoidable when holidaying in the height of the summer. The hotel rooms are undoubtedly memorable, but for families looking for a more cost affective and practical setup then the apartments are ideal and whilst they dont possess the same wow factor they wont disappoint. If you are looking for an immersive cultural experience then the resort naturally wont be right for you, but there is no denying the Mandarin Oriental Bodrum is the ultimate when it comes to five-star luxury family resorts.

Being familiar with the Mandarin Oriental in London, this resort was exactly as I expected. The look and feel was very distinctive, with its use of dark timbers throughout and uber glamourous decor and lighting features. This works really well with the expansive, lush, green setting which the resort occupies on the northern coast of the Bodrum peninsula. The property is large but really well laid out so even at 100% occupancy the hotel never feels crowded. There are two sandy beaches, several pools and places with sun loungers to relax dotted around so you can retreat from the crowd if you want to. If your room is quite remote from the main hub of the hotel and facilities, this is easily overcome by using the golf buggies to get around. Even though I didnt have my children with me when I visited, I could see how it would have worked so well for a family holiday, being genuinely child-friendly without compromising on style and luxury. The childrens area with little tables and chairs in the buffet restaurant was a lovely touch but the best thing is the sheer choice of room categories here. Even the entry level rooms are huge but my personal favourites were the fully equipped apartments and villas (washing machines included!)

From the start of my journey to MO Bodrum I knew it was going to be good. With a flight of just 4 hours I think Bodrum is overlooked for a great destination close to home. As soon as we touched down in Bodrum airport the amazing MO service started by being met air side by our VIP airport greeters. This service allowed us to breeze through the border control que. straight into the luxury transfer that was spacious and even had charging points for your phone. The transfer was a quick 40 minutes, that allowed us to see straight away how green and mountainous the area was on one side with the blue Aegean Sea the other.
On arrival I was blown away by the view and how beautiful the hotel was. The check in process was one of the easiest I have encountered and was met by my personal room butler. They showed me to my room and gave the grand tour. From the moment I was inside I knew my entry level room was not a normal room. At a vast 72sqm, including a walk in wardrobe, bathroom with separate shower to bath (which had its own tv)! The rest of my stay was just as great. The food was wonderful and the buffet breakfast was one of the best I have come across with a fresh juice and coffee bar to a paleo and gluten free area. They have thought of everything from those who would want to be healthy and those who wish to indulge. The rest of the food is so fresh and authentic to the local area. They really enjoy serving the food family style which is great as you get to try a little bit of everything.
The facilities are everything that you would expect from a Mandarin Oriental. The spa and gym area is second to none and the indoor pool allow children in the shoulder season if the main pool temperature isnt warm enough (it is heated though!). The gym had a separate reformer Pilates area where you can join classes or have a private session.
Getting around the resort couldnt be easier either, a quick call and a buggy comes to the door to get you around and take you home from the beach!
The only thing I could fault was myself for not going for long enough! I am now defiantly a Fan of the Mandarin Oriental!

My favourite thing about the Mandarin Oriental is the feeling of utter tranquillity that the hotel offers. Set in a wonderful bay utterly surrounded by pine forest and with incredibly mature gardens overflowing with flowers and olive trees covering most of the property you really get the feeling that you are part of nature.
The rooms are beautiful, huge and epitomise wow factor. Mine had a giant egg shaped bath, B&O entertainment systems and incredibly high ceilings. The terrace, overlooking the bay was large enough to fit loungers and a table to enjoy breakfast at, others have their own pools or grassy lawns perfect for toddlers to play on.
I stayed at the hotel late in the year but even in mid October temperatures were warm, the beach was busy and although the sea was bracing it was still enjoyable. For those who prefer a warmer swim the main pool is fully heated and there are loads of water sports to keep you busy as well.
At night the hotel comes to life with a clubby feel to the main restaurant and a cocktail bar that feels straight of Manhattan. Its all very cool and all done perfectly but without being pretentious or overly exclusive. Thats down to the staff who are incredibly warm and friendly and my butler was a real star being on hand to help with anything I needed from morning through to evening.
The Mandarin is a stunner of a hotel and really works as both a beach resort and a luxury weekend retreat. The spa is excellent with its own Turkish hammam and the massage I had with Iulia was one of the best I have had anywhere in the world. I cant wait to return!

Nestled in its own private bay on the northern shores of Turkeys stunning Aegean coast the Mandarin Oriental Bodrum offers breath-taking views, an exciting array of restaurants, stylish bars and a luxurious spa. Spread across almost 15,000 acres it genuinely feels like you are in your own private world. There is an army of golf buggies to get you from A to B so whether you want to head down to Blue Beach and soak up the sun on the pristine beach, or test out the long list of water sport activities on offer, there will be someone on hand to ensure your every need is taken care of.
Be sure to eat at the hotel's three main restaurants; Assaggio serves wonderful Italian-style cuisine with a Mediterranean flair, Bodrum Balikisi for traditional Turkish fish and seafood dishes that Bodrum is famous for, and my personal favourite Kurochan, which serves the most deliciously addictive Japanese style tapas plates.
The spa is also a must. Beautifully tranquil, you'll be sure to leave wonderfully relaxed after you've enjoyed one of the many signature treatments, followed by a lounge by the outdoor pool and hot tub, it's also a great spot to curl up with the new best seller.
With something for everyone, the Mandarin Oriental Bodrum offers the perfect retreat to enjoy everything that continues to make Turkey so wonderful.

The resort blends into a hill that descends down into a bay (Blue Beach) - this slope cleverly lends itself to ensuring that villas and rooms can be built one behind the other without anyone losing their view. The rooms are vast with their own garden (most with a private plunge pool), bathrooms with freestanding oval baths and all the mod cons. There are also some huge villas for families and larger groups, with 4-6 bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, private pool and even their own fitness room, sauna and steam room. It is possible to have a private chef come to the villas too. Around the resort, every member of staff is extremely attentive and friendly.
The spa and gym really stand out - the enormous space is spread over three floors and is accessed by a lift from the main lobby. Once inside, there's an indoor pool, extensive gym with every state-of-the-art machine you can think of, endless beauty/treatment rooms, the traditional Hammams take place in a dome shaped room, on a large heated marble slab, and there are separate serene gardens. There is also a Fitness Specialist who is able to give you an In-Body Analysis. The beach is another highlight, with staff bringing you iced coffees and chilled fruit juices throughout the day. Despite the high temperatures during the summer months, the sea breeze is constant so you can easily spend your whole day comfortably reading books, snoozing and dipping in and out of the sea.
Activities wise there is an extensive selection of water sports available. The Aquatic Centre offers water skiing, jet skiing, scuba diving and fishing to name a few, and the nearby bays are well worth a visit either by car or boat. You can also do a mixology lesson at the Mandarin Bar, where you are taught to make a number of cocktails on the list.
There are four main restaurants in the evening: Sofra serves Mediterranean fare (this is also where guests have breakfast), Assaggio right on the sea offers Italian cuisine, Balikcisi the fish restaurant where the chef visits local markets each day to select the freshest seafood, and Kurochan for Japanese dishes (this is only open in high season). During the day, Blue Beach is perfectly placed, as you can hop off your sun lounger and go straight into the restaurant, and for those lazing round the pool, the Pool Bar and Restaurant serves salads and snacks, ideal for a light lunch.
The hotel's Panda Club is open daily and has a weekly activity programme for smaller children. Older children have a separate games room.

This is a truly stunning resort and will exceed all your expectations. All of the extremely spacious rooms have been perfectly decorated in a natural and discreet way. The friendly service combined with a brilliant selection of restaurants offering different cuisine from across the globe and picturesque setting make this resort a fantastic choice for an unforgettable holiday.
This resort is also perfectly located less than half an hour from Yalikavak, a new and pristine marine offering a range of chic shops, bars and restaurants. Forty minutes in the opposite direction is the large town of Bodrum, which like Yalikavak also offers fantastic shopping with many of the designer brands. However, it's worth exploring the narrow cobbled streets where you can experience the real Turkey and haggle for leather goods. Whilst in Bodrum why not take a guided tour around the Bodrum castle which stands majestically above the town, dominating the centre of the bay and when illuminated in the evenings creates a dramatic and magical backdrop.
Ancient Wonder of Ephesus
Spend the day exploring the city of Ephesus, an ancient Greek city home to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient world, the Temple of Artemis. Also enjoy a visit to the House of Virgin Mary and the Selcuk Museum.
Private tour of Bodrum Castle
Enjoy a private tour of the Roman and Byzantine shipwrecks at the medieval Bodrum Castle with the director of the Institute of Nautical Archaeology.
