Mallorca's Beaches
Mallorca has some of the most stunning beaches in the Mediterranean, with white fine sand and crystal-clear waters. Here we have put together a list of our favourite beaches on the island.
The Best Beaches Near Arta
Cala Mesquida – A quiet beach backed by sand dunes in the northeast coast of Mallorca
A 300m bay of glorious sand just 6km north of beautiful Cala Rajada. A fairly remote beach with crystal clear waters, set among pine trees and sand dunes. Winds can pick up here making onshore waves so great for a spot of surfing/body boarding. Loungers and umbrellas are available for hire. There is one restaurant and a snack bar offering food and drinks, but facilities are minimal. Diving, snorkelling and paddle boarding can be done here.
Cala Torta – One of the most appealing undeveloped beaches on Mallorca
Scuba-diving and snorkelling are highly recommended in this area. It is quite remote so be prepared for a bumpy ride through a small mountain range with many potholes! The reward is a virtually deserted white beach with crystal clear water. A small restaurant offers freshly caught fish and seafood from the Mallorcan waters.
The Best Beaches Near Pollenca
Port de Pollenca – A beautiful beach for the children
Surrounded by the green of the Sierra de Tramuntana Mountains, with spectacular views and lovely soft white sand. The beach is far less crowded than the beach in nearby Port de Alcudia. A beautiful beach for the children, with lots of space for playing and fairly shallow water to splash in. Offers a lot of water sports including sailing and scuba diving/snorkelling, windsurfing. They are also many restaurants and small supermarkets along the sea front.
Alcudia Bay – Best for Water Sports
The beach at Alcudia is the longest in Mallorca, extending to more than 5 miles. It is also fantastic for families with children as it is a very long and wide beach with fine white sand and very shallow water. All kinds of water sports are on offer. The snorkeling conditions are not the best here but the best spot is along the coast protection close to the harbour. There are all kind of restaurants along the beachfront and some in fact directly on the beach.
Secluded Beaches with Stunning Scenery
Platja S'Amarador, Mondrago Natural Park - Perfect for families
A stunning sandy double bay located in the environment-protected area of Mondragó. The pine wood stretches almost to the turquoise coloured sea, the sand is fine and white and the form of the bay gives it natural shelter. Ideal for families with small children. There is a beach bar offering snacks and refreshments and a big public car park.
Cala Formentor - One of the most fantastic and most secluded beaches in Mallorca
The drive through the mountain coastal road to arrive at Cala Formentor is breath-taking. The beach divided into two by a pier. It is about 900 m long and has fine white sands. The sea is crystal clear and the water the most beautiful shades of turquoise. In front of the beach is the little Isle of Formentor, and a pine grove provides shade behind it. There is a large parking area for which there is a charge. Combined with the pines at the beach and the view to the mountains, Cala Formentor is one of the most fantastic beaches in Mallorca. Child friendly, the sea is relatively shallow but the space for playing at the beach is limited. There are two restaurants at the beach..
