A trip to Swedish Lapland between November and March will allow you to make the most of your chances of catching the Northern Lights. And of course there will be snow on the ground too making husky sledding, snow-shoeing and snowmobiling all possible.
For Summer activities July- September is the best time to visit.

Sörbyn Lodge at the heart of Swedish Lapland serves as the perfect base to explore this incredible region. Go Northern Lights spotting, ice fishing, snow-shoeing, husky-sledding or snow-mobiling and work up an appetite for the chef's gastronomic delights.
The setting of this family run property at the edge of Lake Vitträsket is magical. The lake freezes over in winter and the trees are decked out in twinkling lights. Coffee is perpetually being brewed and little homemade biscuits being proffered. Sörbyn Lodge has rustic charm in spades with its simple rooms, charming staff, and a very talented resident chef.
Which brings us to the food, which is the real surprise here. The creativity and skill that the chef invests in his dishes are at odds with the simple design of the lodge but it is the highlight of any stay here. He goes to great lengths to source the freshest of ingredients as locally as possible, visiting each supplier himself so as to ensure quality. The end result are visually beautiful dishes that taste as good as they look - parsnip soup with smoked moose garnished with deep fried lichen; Vendace roe and Artic char on a bed of soy lentils; local lamb with a chanterelle and cep sauce. Guests can venture out on a forage run with the chef or even don an apron to learn from the man himself.
Sörbyn Lodge's location lends itself well to a winter activity holiday for adults and children alike. Set off on a thrilling snow-mobile ride that can have you crossing frozen lakes at speed; or opt for a slower and more natural mode of transport behind a husky drawn sleigh. Go for a bracing walk in the evening when the sky is dark and the chances of seeing the Northern Lights are high or enrol in a cooking class with the chef to try your hand at deep frying lichen!
This simple and homely place is the perfect place to relax and unwind and feast on great food but is equally perfect for those keen to get out and about to play in the snow. It works very well when combined with Aurora Safari Camp for a reintroduction to en-suite facilities!
Sörbyn Lodge is made up of a main building decorated in a classic Scandinavian style which houses the restaurant while an annex features eight rooms. There are also 15 wooden cabins with up to four bedrooms as well as a kitchenette scattered around both nestled under the pine trees. The rooms and cabins are simple in style and comfortable and feature an en-suite.
The in-house restaurant Kallkällan strives to serve up dishes formed from local produce. Local delicacies are complemented by more exotic ingredients but whatever the combination a meal here will be memorable.
Where to start! Swedish Lapland is renowned for its array of amazing winter activities and this little corner of the Arctic Circle is no different - husky sledding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, moose watching, Aurora Borealis spotting, ice fishing and ice sculpting are just some of the options available.

Sorbyn Lodge is set in the small village of Sorbyn, so it is very quiet and peaceful. The lodge is fairly basic, however the delightful owner Cecilia is just so warm and welcoming and will ensure that you have a fantastic stay.

Sorbyn Lodge is an enchanting lodge in Swedish Lapland. The lodge offers simple, yet comfortable accommodation in the beautiful setting of Sorbyn vllage. Don't be surprised if you walk down the road and a friendly local neighbour invites you in for a cup of tea. The staff at Sorbyn immediately makes you feel like family the moment you walk through the door and are there to help with any and all requests. There are endless activities to participate in at the lodge, Northern Lights snowmobile rides, husky sledding, cooking classes, kick sledding and nordic skiing to name a few. Sorbyn Ldge is the perfect place to disconnect from your normal life and truly relax. A few hours in the sauna set on the lakefront will truly make you feel worlds away from home.

A wonderful place for families especially but great for couples looking for an active escape to Lapland. The accommodation is basic but comfortable and this place is really about where you are and the beauty around you. Magnus the chef creates the most mouth watering dishes which will blow you away. The reindeer is out of this world. There is so much to do here activity wise. We visited Richard (aka the husky whisperer) who lives nearby to see all of his friendly huskies and this was an experience I won't forget.

I loved the simplicity & modest decor of Sorbyn Lodge. A stay here is all about the setting, right on the edge of a beautiful lake, the sunrises and sunsets and the promise of a chance to spy the Aurora Borealis
