Highlights
An exclusive Lapland experience with just 3 cosy log cabins
The Retreat is situated in the forest on a tiny peninsula by the Rane River, offering a true sense of serentiy
This is a family-run property where you'll enjoy a truly authentic experience, with highly-personalised service
The remote location creates an ideal environment for Northern Lights sightings and stargazing
Hidden away deep in the forest, the Arctic Retreat is located in one of the most stunning spots in Swedish Lapland. The Råne River winds its way around this tiny peninsula, with the Raven Rapids thundering just a few hundred metres away from the cabins. Other than the lapping of the water, here you can enjoy almost complete silence and serenity.
Made up of handful of traditional log cabins, Arctic Retreat offers a truly exclusive and personalised escape. Each of the three cabins boast cosy log burners, floor-to-ceiling windows and private hot tubs, from where you can relax and soak up the incredible views of the Lappish wilderness. The cabins can be booked individually or all together on an exclusive-use basis for larger groups. Dinner is served in one of the camp's traditional log cabins and is a sumptuous affair where Liza, the owner, shows off her incredible flair for cooking, regularly using locally-sourced ingredients and delighting her guests with her Scandinavian fare.
Although it would be easy to stay by the fire and simply marvel at the view all day, it would be a shame not to experience everything this breath-taking area has to offer. In winter this includes husky sledding, snowshoe walks, hiking, snowmobiling, ice fishing and Nordic skiing. If you are lucky enough to make a catch during a fishing experience, the chef will even prepare your fish for your next meal! Back at camp, you can huddle up by the fire, sharing stories of your day with other guests over a cup of coffee, or warm up in the traditional Swedish sauna. It is also possible to stay at the Arctic Retreat during the spring, autumn or summer, where the woodland location next to the river makes it the perfect base to enjoy an array of activities on the land or water including canoeing, hiking and culinary experiences.
The Retreat offers a truly authentic Swedish experience, working closely with local people and locally-sourced materials and supplies. With a homely, personalised service Arctic Retreat offers a great location to escape in this stunning corner of Scandinavia.
When to visit
Taking all 3 cabins would be perfect for a group travelling together offering a completely exclusive experience.
