Sanbona Wildlife Reserve occupies a beautiful corner of the Klein Karoo. Just a three hour drive from Cape Town, the reserve is non-malarial and home to the big five. Dwyka Tented Lodge is Sanbona's most exclusive camp.
Sanbona Dwyka Tented Lodge is an exclusive nine-tented safari lodge in a dramatically picturesque corner of this vast wilderness area. This tented camp is the most luxurious of the accommodation options across the reserve. The spacious tents all have large en-suite bathrooms, king or twin beds and private decks with plunge pools.
The reserve is home to the big five, as well as a wide variety of African wildlife and prolific birding. Guests can enjoy day and night game drives, walking safaris, boat safaris, visits to bushman cave paintings and all sorts of special surprises orchestrated by the professional guiding team.
Sanbona is the finest big game wildlife reserve within easy driving distance from Cape Town. The Klein Karoo is an arid area of the country so the volume of wildlife is not that of other safari areas. However, you will be surprised by the richness of life supported in this area, and blown away with the beauty of the landscape, the quality of guiding and the hospitality of the Sanbona team.
There are just nine tented suites at Sanbona, seven king and two twins. Each tent features a luxurious en-suite bathroom, outdoor shower and private deck with plunge pool. Some of the tents are positioned slightly closer together, great for families.
The Klein (Little) Karoo is a jaw-droppingly beautiful corner of South Africa. The reserve gives visitors a great feeling of space with endless views, towering mountains and a wide variety of habitat.
The reserve is home to the big five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino, and the professional guides will give all visitors the chance to track these animals and enjoy memorable sightings. Beside this famous five cheetah, hippo, giraffe, brown hyena and a great variety of general game can be found across the vast area.
The reserve offers a lot of flexibility of experience, day and night game drives, walking safaris, boating safaris on the Bellair dam. Besides the wildlife, Khoisan rock art gives evidence that this area of South Africa was home to the bushman hunter-gatherers. The clear skies of the Karoo, and lack of light pollution make this area one of the best places to enjoy mesmerising night skies.
