Average time to visit

Weather-wise, the best times to go are spring and autumn. Marrakesh is very hot in the summer months of July and August, a dry but extremely relentless heat. By the end of October the evenings are cold, although the midday sun is still warm enough to bask in. The weather in winter, from November to March, ranges from cold and rainy to sunny days, warm enough to sit outside.

To start planning your holiday to Fawakay Villas

Fawakay Villas is a quirky boutique-style hotel, consisting of three villas spread across an oasis of gardens. Its informal atmosphere provides the perfect destination for families looking to enjoy a relaxed yet exotic holiday not too far from home.

Fawakay Villas is spread across three and a half acres, providing plenty of space for children to run about, explore and play in a quiet and safe environment whilst parents relax in the sun.

There is a good-sized pool area with a 15-metre main pool as well as a separate children's pool. There are also a number of day beds in the shade and large beanbag cushions spread out across the lawn, together with games of giant Jenga and table tennis. The shaded bar area is located by the pool and serves drinks all day.

What really makes Fawakay special are the owners, English couple Francis and Dawn, who live on-site and are your hosts during your stay. They built the hotel from scratch and have loved turned it in to a homely, relaxed destination with a real focus on being family-friendly. The on-site animals, including Doris the donkey, a couple of peacocks and four small dogs freely roam the grounds, are a hit with children and add a sense of fun.

You are just a 20-minute taxi journey from the Medina, so you can easily head in for a morning or afternoon to explore the hustling and bustling souks, or even for dinner one evening. You are also just an hour from the Atlas Mountains, so day trips for hiking and camel riding can be easily be arranged too.

Taos is located at the furthest end of the property and therefore is the most private of the three villas. There are four bedrooms here, two interconnecting rooms upstairs which are ideal for families as well as two double bedrooms downstairs. There are two large terrace areas with seating areas and loungers both upstairs and downstairs, plus a private plunge pool.

Children are extremely welcome at Fawakay Villas. Dawn and Francis have children themselves and know what is needed. They offer a special children's menu which can be pre-ordered for any time of the day, so you can ensure that your little ones have dinner at their usual time. There is also a baby food menu too, so no need to worry about bringing your own with you. Each villa comes with its own kitchen, so you can fix a drink or a snack at any time.

There is a playground with swings and slides, children's swimming pool, table tennis table and giant outdoor games.

During school holidays various activities such as cookery lessons and visits from a henna tatooist are offered to keep children busy. Babysitting can also be arranged in the evenings too.

You can either book on a bed and breakfast or half board basis. Breakfast is enjoyed on your villa terrace at your desired time and is slightly different every day. There is a lunch menu to choose from, offering a selection of traditional tagines, sandwiches and salads. Dinner is a three course set menu with a starter, choice of three main courses and a dessert. Lunch and dinner can be taken in the privacy of your villa or in the bar area by the pool.

A number of activities can be arranged during your stay, these include dune buggying, quad biking, camel rides, horse riding cookery classes, guided souk tours, excursions to the Atlas mountains and massages. Over busy periods such as Easter and half-terms it is advisable to book activities in advance.
