Competent riders can experience safari from a new perspective and benefit from a unique vantage point
Entering the Makalali Private Game Reserve, dominated by huge open planes you might find yourself cantering next to giraffes, zebras or wildebeest
XiDulu is built at the edge of a dam with a resident pod of hippos. Enjoy the game fromthe deck of your chalet or the viewing platform or even better whilst enjoying the infinitypool.
There is no bad time to go on safari in the Kruger National Park. The experience does, however, change from month to month. In the summer months (October to March), it gets very hot. The verdant vistas are all the more spectacular because of the rains, but this means that the foliage is denser, water is more abundant and game is therefore trickier to see. There are lots of beautiful migratory birds during the summer months. While the daytime temperature in the winter months (May to September) is ideal, it does get a little chilly at night and in the early morning.
XiDulu Camp will be your second base during your ten day riding safari. Xidulu is a private camp on the Greater Makalali Game Reserve and is used exclusively by the owners and Wait a Little riding safaris.
XiDulu is an intimate camp with only five rooms making it the perfect stop for your riding safari. XiDulu’s rooms are all equipped with inside and outside showers, baths, aircon and a big veranda for wildlife viewing. Elephants often come for a swim during the day, whilst at night lions and hyenas are often seen or heard near the camp.
The property has a lovely main area overlooking a dam that is home to a pod of hippos that will entertain and amaze you during your stay, there is also an infinity pool to cool off in after spending some time in the African sun.
It is the perfect base for a Big 5 safari and during your stay you will not only get to ride and explore this reserve but you will also be taken on private game drives in search of big cats.
Wait A Little Riding Safaris are based in the Karongwe Private Game Reserve, to the west of Kruger National Park between Hoedspruit and Phalaborwa.
